Mayor Of Tainan
The Mayor of Tainan is the head of the Tainan City Government, Taiwan and is elected to a four-year term. The current mayor is Huang Wei-cher of the Democratic Progressive Party since 25 December 2018. Titles of the Mayor List of Mayors This list includes only those persons who served as mayors of Tainan City after the end of World War II, during the Post-War era of Taiwan. The first two mayors served were appointed by the central government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The numerals indicate the consecutive time in office served by a single elected mayor. For example, Su Nan-cheng served two consecutive terms and is counted as the tenth mayor (not the eighth and ninth). Yeh Ting-kuei served three non-consecutive terms and is counted chronologically as the 3rd, the 5th, and the 7th mayor. Because of this, the list below contains 14 mayoralties, but only 12 people. Huang Wei-cher
Huang Wei-che (; born 26 September 1963) is a Taiwanese politician. He was a member of the Legislative Yuan from 2005 to 2018. Huang is the incumbent Mayor of Tainan since 25 December 2018 after winning the title during the 2018 local elections on 24 November 2018. Education Huang attended Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School. He then continued his higher education at National Taiwan University for his bachelor's degree and at Harvard University and Yale University in the United States for his master's degrees. George Chang
George Chang or Chang Tsan-hung (; born 1 March 1936) is a Taiwanese politician and independence activist. He was the mayor of Tainan City from 1997 to 2001. Early years After graduating from the National Tainan First Senior High School, Chang attended the National Taiwan University to study chemical engineering. In 1961, Chang arrived at the United States to study at the Rice University, where he got his doctorate degree. He taught chemical engineering as a professor at Cooper Union. During his stay in the US, Chang started taking part in the Taiwan independence movement. He was the first vice chairperson of the World United Formosans for Independence (WUFI), and became its chairperson in 1973. During the occurrence of the Kaohsiung Incident, Chang also advocated many Taiwanese Americans to support the democratic movement going on in Taiwan. In 1991, Chang returned to Taiwan. Shih Chih-ming
Shih Chih-ming (; born 29 October 1952) is a Taiwanese politician of the Kuomintang party. He served two consecutive terms as mayor of Tainan City, from 1989 to 1997. He contested the 2001 Tainan municipal election as an independent, and was not elected to the Tainan City Council. During that election cycle, Shih was indicted by the Tainan City Prosecutors' Office on corruption charges. Chen Kuei-miao
Chen Kuei-miao (; 1 July 1934 – 15 August 2014) was a Taiwanese politician While serving as acting Mayor of Tainan in 1985, Chen was affiliated with the Kuomintang. He was first elected to the Legislative Yuan in 1989, and represented Taiwan's 16th district, encompassing Penghu County. He was reelected to the Penghu County legislative seat in 1992, and in the midst of his second term, cofounded the New Party, in 1993. Chen was reelected to a third legislative term in 1995, via the New Party proportional representation party list. Chen was one of many legislators to be implicated in a wide-ranging insider trading scandal that also affected Andrew Oung, among others.
