Mayor Of Mogadishu
The Mayor of Mogadishu is head of the executive branch of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. The mayor's office administers all city services, public property, police and fire protection, most public agencies, and enforces laws within the city. Mayor Omar Muhamoud Finnish was appointed on 22 August 2019 and succeeded the Martyr Mayor Abdirahman Omar Osman, who died on 1 August 2019 from a suicide bombing that occurred 24 July 2019 inside the mayor's office. The mayor's office is located in Mogadishu City Hall, which was recently renovated after years of abandonment and decay during the Somali Civil War. The mayor is not elected, but is appointed by the President of Somalia. Eric Armar Vully de Candole CMG CBE (14 September 1901 - 7 July 1989) was a British civil servant. Early life and education EAVdeC was born in Phillak Hayle, Redruth on 14 September 1901, the elder son, the middle child of Rev. Armar Corry Vully de Candole and Edith Hodgson. He was educated at Colet Court, Aldenham School and Worcester College, Oxford. Career On 3 August 1923 he sailed from Liverpool on the HMS Leicestershire to Port Said to take up his diplomatic post in the Sudan. He was in the Sudan Political Service from 1923 to 1946, when he became Administrator of Cyrenaica and Somalia until 1951. He was Advisor to the King of Libya between 1951 and 1954. Colonel Sir Reginald Hugh Dorman-Smith, GBE (10 March 1899 – 20 March 1977) was an Anglo-Irish diplomat, soldier and politician in the British Empire. Early life and politics Dorman-Smith was educated at Harrow School and the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. After serving in the army, he continued his career with a strong interest in agriculture, becoming president of the National Farmers Union (the NFU) at the age of 32, and then later Minister of Agriculture. Carlo De Simone (4 March 1885 – 1951) was an officer in the Italian Army during World War II. Biography During most of the East African Campaign, Lieutenant-General De Simone commanded Italian forces in southern Italian Somaliland. However, during the Italian invasion of British Somaliland, De Simone commanded General Guglielmo Nasi's main "center" column. De Simone's command in Italian Somaliland included the reinforced Harar Division (XIII Colonial Brigade, XIV Colonial Brigade, and XV Colonial Brigade - amounting to eleven infantry battalions, fourteen batteries of artillery, a company of medium tanks (12 tanks), a squadron of light tanks (4 light tanks), and an armored car company (12 armored cars).
