Jules Pipe
Julian Benjamin Pipe (born May 1965) is a British politician who currently serves as the Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and Skills. Pipe was the first directly elected mayor of the London Borough of Hackney between his election in October 2002 and his resignation in the summer of 2016. He worked as a journalist until taking on the full-time position as mayor. The council was short-listed for Council of the Year in 2010 in what was described as a "Meteoric rise". Pipe was elected as a Labour party councillor in Stoke Newington in 1996, later representing the King's Park Ward. Pauline Pearce
Pauline Pearce is a British Liberal Democrat campaigner and anti-knife crime activist. Pearce came to prominence during the 2011 England riots, featuring in a viral video in which she chastised rioters, leading her to be dubbed the Heroine of Hackney. Early life and career Pearce was born in Barbados and raised in Hitchin. She attended Purwell Primary School, Hitchin Girls' School and then North Hertfordshire College. Pearce joined the Queen Mary Theatre and worked as a cleaner and care worker before launching into a jazz singing career, which included a show at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2000, Pearce was convicted of drug smuggling. She was sentenced to six years' imprisonment and served three years.
