"Maybe I Should" is the first single I Am Kloot released after parting ways with their former record label Echo. The songs were recorded during the autumn of 2005. The single was released on 21 November 2005 by Skinny Dog label, co-founded by I Am Kloot's bass player, Peter Jobson, and Elbow's lead vocalist, Guy Garvey. I Am Kloot
I Am Kloot were an English rock band, formed in Manchester in 1999. The band was composed of vocalist/guitarist John Bramwell, bassist Peter Jobson and drummer Andy Hargreaves. The band released six studio albums, and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2010 for the album '' Sky at Night''. The band split up in 2016, with Bramwell concentrating on a solo career. The origin of the band name was shrouded in secrecy for the majority of the band's existence, with Bramwell stating in 2013 that the band "never said and we never will" confirm the origin of the name and joked that "If I told you, I'd have to kill you". Jobson later claimed that the name I Am Kloot was inspired by the Alan J. Pakula film ''Klute'', and also that "I Am Kloot is a left handed card game made famous in the diaries of Jerome K. Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey (lead vocals, guitar), Craig Potter (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Turner (bass guitar, backing vocals). They have played together since 1990, adopting the name Elbow in 1997. Drummer Alex Reeves replaced Richard Jupp in 2016. The Echo Label
The Echo Label was a British record label started by Chrysalis Group in 1994, and linked with Pony Canyon in Japan. The Chrysalis Group were the original owners of Chrysalis Records, which they sold to EMI. In 2005, The Echo Label recorded a loss of over £2.0 million. The decision was taken to restructure the business at the beginning of the 2006 financial year, into an "incubator" for developing writer-artists with the intention of "upstreaming" them to a major label. The signings which resulted from this included Bat for Lashes, Steven Lindsay, Rosalie Deighton, Jacob Golden and Sarabeth Tucek. Over My Shoulder (I Am Kloot Song)
"Over My Shoulder" is I Am Kloot's highest-charting single to date, reaching #38 on the UK charts in 2005. It preceded the album ''Gods And Monsters'' which charted lower than their previous album ''I Am Kloot''. The song itself was first released on the Wall of Sound compilation album ''We Love You... So Love Us Too'' and re-recorded for the '' Gods and Monsters'' album. The CD added two B-sides that were originally intended for the cancelled "Proof" single. "Great Escape" is John Bramwell performing on his own with his acoustic guitar, an old song from his solo Johnny Dangerously days and the final B-side "Junk Culture" is a band effort, once again an old Johnny Dangerously song updated. Guy Garvey
Guy Edward John Garvey (born 6 March 1974) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter. He is the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band Elbow. Early life Garvey grew up in Bury, Lancashire. His father was a grammar school boy who could not afford to go to university; he spent most of his working life as a newspaper proofreader and a chemist at ICI. John Bramwell
John Harold Arnold Bramwell (born 27 November 1964 in Hyde, Cheshire) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the frontman for the former three-piece alternative rock band I Am Kloot. Prior to forming I Am Kloot, Bramwell had previously issued solo material under the guise of "Johnny Dangerously". He is left-handed, but plays guitar right-handed. Biography Bramwell was born on 27 November 1964 in Hyde, Cheshire (now part of Tameside, Greater Manchester). He grew up in Gee Cross, Hyde. In the early years, John was the front man of a four-piece band called "The Ignition" that toured in the early to late 1980s.
