Bengali music ( bn, বাংলা সংগীত) comprises a long tradition of religious and secular song-writing over a period of almost a millennium. Lakkhichhara ( bn, লক্ষ্মীছাড়া) is a rock band, based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. History The band was formed in 1999. This band initially started playing professionally in college fests, hotels and pubs. In 2001 they recorded their debut album. The album was not commercially successful but some major hits like "Care Korina" and "Shudhu Chai Tomay" were featured on radio channels in Kolkata. In December 2001, the lead vocalist Sayak Bandopadhyay left the band. Subhajit Mukherjee joined the band after he met the band in a school fest, and showed interest in working with them. In 2003 they recorded their second studio album - ''Jibon Chaichhe Aro Besi''. In 2004, Rishabh Ray joined the band and later recorded a new album in 2005 named ''Eka'', the album was a huge success. Tapas Bapi Das (also known as Bapida, or its variations Bapi Da, Bapi-da, (22 September 1954 – 25 June 2023) was an Indian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was one of the founding members of the Bengali rock band Moheener Ghoraguli established in 1975 in Kolkata. Early life and career Born on 22 September 1954 into a typical Bengali family, the fourth son of Narayan Chandra Das and Jyotsna Das, Das's musical journey started from an early age. Arunendu Das
Arunendu Das (1938 – 2 February 2019) was a Burmese born Bengali architect, singer-songwriter and musician. He was one of the pioneers of late 20th-century alternative Bengali songwriting. While Moheener Ghoraguli is considered to be the first Bengali Band, Arunendu was the first person to compose Bengali lyrics for songs written specifically to be accompanied by guitar, a genus of Bengali music which has become increasingly popular over time. Early life Arunendu Das was born in 1938 at Rangoon (now Yangon) to Jodhulal Das – a medical doctor and Amiyabala Das – a housewife. ''Ramblin' Boy'' is the debut album by American folk singer-songwriter Tom Paxton, released in 1964. History ''Ramblin' Boy'' is referred to as Paxton's debut album, since it was his first album released on a major record label (Elektra Records), although he had previously released a live album recorded at The Gaslight Cafe in Greenwich Village entitled, ''I'm the Man That Built the Bridges'' (which was released on the small Gaslight label in 1962). Three songs from ''Ramblin' Boy'' were frequently covered by other artists – the title song, "I Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound" and "The Last Thing on My Mind". The latter song remains one of Paxton's most well-known compositions. Gautam Chattopadhyay (1 June 1949 – 20 June 1999) was an Indian Bengali singer, songwriter, bassist, and composer. In 1975, as a leader he founded the progressive rock band Moheener Ghoraguli with Tapas Das, Abraham Mazumdar, Pradip Chatterjee, Ranjon Ghoshal, Biswanath Bishu Chattopadhyay Tapesh Bandopadhyay. He was also a theatre personality, filmmaker, and ethnographer. He played many Indian and Western instruments. During his college years he played lead guitar in a band called The Urge, whose members were mostly Anglo Indians, in pubs including Trincas and Moulin Rouge at Park Street of Kolkata during the 1960s. While a student at the Presidency College in Kolkata, he participated in the political movement of the late 60s and early 70s in Bengali campuses known as the Naxal Movement. Bonnie Chakraborty is an Indian playback singer. he was the lead vocalist of Kolkata based band Krosswindz until 1998. He has sung many songs in several languages including Hindi, Tamil and Bengali for various films. Career Chakraborty teamed with Neil Mukherjee and formed a band, Kashti which was promoted by Zee Music. They produced an album of 8 songs that came and went unnoticed by the general public, although it was popular in the music circles of Mumbai.
