May Patterson Goodrum House
The May Patterson Goodrum House is a historic home in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia completed in 1932. It is also known as the Peacock House. It is an English Regency style mansion designed by Atlanta architect Philip T. Shutze and is considered one of his "finest works." It was entered into the National Register of Historic Places on May 1, 2013. Design The house is a large English Regency style mansion with a -story central block flanked by two-story wings which project forward. The exterior is constructed of brick, and covered with smooth stucco scored in a way to look like stone. The entryway features ionic columns. The rear of the house faces a semicircular terrace and features two-story bow windows. Decorations inside the house include murals by Allyn Cox and Athos Menaboni as well as carvings and plasterwork by Herbert J. Millard. Philip Trammell Shutze
Philip Trammell Shutze (August 18, 1890 – October 17, 1982) was an American architect. He became a partner in 1927 of Hentz, Adler & Shutze. He is known for his neo-classical architecture. Designed the HM Patterson & son spring Hill chapel, 1020 spring Street Atlanta Georgia 30309, 1928 Biography Shutze was born in Columbus, Georgia to Sarah Lee ( Erwin) and Phillip Trammell Shutze. He graduated with a B.S. in architecture from Georgia Tech in 1912, and Bachelor of Architecture from Columbia University in 1913. After winning the Rome Prize in 1915 he spent several years in Europe studying European architecture before returning to Atlanta to work for the architectural firm of Hentz, Reid and Adler. Shutze thereafter designed many well-known buildings in the Atlanta area, becoming a partner of the company in 1927. He was a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. Sea Island, Georgia
Sea Island is a privately owned, unincorporated area of Glynn County, Georgia, and is part of the Golden Isles of Georgia, which include St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Little St. Simons Island, and the mainland city of Brunswick. The well-visited seaside resort island is located along the Atlantic Coast just east of St. Simons Island. It lies about north of Jacksonville, Florida and about south of Savannah, Georgia, and is reachable via a causeway from St. Simons Island. The Anschutz family of Denver, Colorado owns two resorts with limited public access and maintains a gated community for around 500 single-family residences.
