Maximum Surge
''Maximum Surge'' is a cancelled video game by Digital Pictures. Planned for release in 1996 for the 3DO, Mac, PC and Sega Saturn, it was to feature full-motion video in the same way that many of Digital Pictures' releases of the time did. The game's 90 minutes of video footage starred Walter Koenig and Yasmine Bleeth, was directed by William Mesa, and was written by J. Garrett Glover and Charlie Ogden. According to Flash Film Works, the studio responsible for the special effects used in the game, ''Maximum Surge'' was never released. However, the ESRB's website lists a rating for the game on multiple platforms, suggesting that the project made it at least to the late stages of development. Digital Pictures
Digital Pictures was an American video game developer founded in 1991 by Lode Coen, Mark Klein, Ken Melville, Anne Flaut-Reed, Kevin Welsh and Tom Zito. The company originated from an attempt to produce a game for the failed VHS-based NEMO (video game console), NEMO game system. One of its first titles, ''Night Trap'', was originally produced as a title for the NEMO, before being converted for use with Sega's new Sega CD. The mature-themed content of ''Night Trap'' made it the source of some controversy. Nevertheless, the title was a bestseller. Digital Pictures went on to create other full motion video-based titles primarily for Sega hardware, and are regarded as a pioneer of the interactive movie genre. The company declined in the mid-1990s due to waning interest in full motion video games. ''Next Generation'' was a video game magazine that was published by Imagine Media (now Future US). It was affiliated to and shared editorial with the UK's ''Edge'' magazine. ''Next Generation'' ran from January 1995 until January 2002. It was published by Jonathan Simpson-Bint and edited by Neil West. Other editors included Chris Charla, Tom Russo, and Blake Fischer. ''Next Generation'' initially covered the 32-bit consoles including 3DO, Atari Jaguar, and the then-still unreleased Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn. This is a list of cancelled Sega Saturn video games. The Sega Saturn was a video game console by Sega. While Sega found success in its Sega Genesis in the early 1990s, the failure of the Sega CD and 32X hardware add-ons left them in need of moving on to new hardware. Concerned about the impending releases of Sony's first PlayStation console and Nintendo's N64, Sega rushed the Saturn to market in regions across late 1994 and 1995.
