Maxime Rouyer
Maxime Rouyer (born July 16, 1994) is a French professional gridiron football linebacker for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He has also played for the Edmonton Elks of the CFL and the Panthers Wrocław of the European League of Football (ELF). College career Born in Troyes, where he started practicing gridiron football with Pygargues de Troyes when he was sixteen, Rouyer moved to Canada and started playing Canadian football, first, two seasons at the Cégep de Jonquière. He then played U Sports football from 2015 to 2018, for the McGill Redmen, while also earning a major in Physical Education & Health. During his time as a linebacker for the Redmen, Rouyer played 23 games and recorded 103 total tackles and 4.5 quarterback sacks. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). How a linebacker plays their position depends on the defensive alignment, the philosophy of the coaching staff, and the particular play the offense may call. 2019 European CFL Draft
The 2019 CFL European Draft took place on April 11, 2019. Nine players were chosen from a pool of 18 European players who attended the 2019 CFL Combine. Background In October 2018, Canadian Football League (CFL) commissioner Randy Ambrosie outlined a plan to grow the CFL's presence, which he dubbed CFL 2.0, including growth internationally. As part of this expansion the CFL held a special draft in January 2019 with the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), the top-level pro American football league in Mexico. Players selected there were not signed to teams but rather had their rights held by their selecting teams. 2022 European League Of Football Season
The 2022 ELF season is the second season of the European League of Football, a professional American football league based in Europe. Twelve teams from five different countries will participate. The 2022 season started on June 4, 2022, and will conclude with the Championship Game on September 25, 2022 at the Wörthersee Stadion, Klagenfurt. Format The league is divided into three conferences, North, Central and South. Each team plays 12 games during the regular season: twice against their conference rivals, and twice against three of the teams from the other conferences. The top team in each conference, as well as the best second-place team, qualify for the playoffs. Teams On top of the eight inaugural season teams, the league expanded with four new franchises.
