Max Tera
Max Tera (25 October 1920 – 1 October 1992) was an Indonesian cinematographer and editor. He was employed by PERFINI in the 1950s and was a frequent collaborator with director Usmar Ismail. Biography Tera was born on 25 October 1920 in Madiun, East Java, Dutch East Indies. He continued his education until junior high school, later becoming a photographer. Around 1948, during the Indonesian National Revolution, Tera joined the Dutch-owned production company South Pacific Film Corporation, where he studied cinematography under the Dutch cameraman AA Denninghoff-Stelling. With South Pacific, Tera served as assistant cinematographer for several productions, including '' Djaoeh Dimata'' (1948), ''Gadis Desa'', ''Harta Karun'', and ''Tjitra'' (all 1949). It was while working there Tera met Usmar Ismail, who was the director of ''Harta Karun'' and ''Tjitra''. ''Warriors for Freedom'' ( id, Pedjuang) is a 1960 Indonesian drama film directed by Usmar Ismail. It was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival where Bambang Hermanto won the Silver Prize for Best Actor. Plot Circa 1947, a platoon led by Letnan Amin (Rendra Karno) receives an assignment to hold a strategically important bridge. These troops are supported by a number of refugees, among them Irma (Chitra Dewi), a middle-class child cynical about the fight for independence. Amin and Irma are in a secret relationship; Sergeant Major Imron (Bambang Hermanto) also has an interest towards Irma. When Amin is injured, Imron is assigned to lead the troops away from Dutch-held territory, which is accomplished. Corporal Seno (Bambang Irawan) suspects Imron of wanting Amin out of the way to get Irma. ''Tiga Dara'' (Indonesian for ''Three Maidens'') is a 1957 Indonesian musical comedy film starring Chitra Dewi, Mieke Wijaya, and Indriati Iskak. When the eldest sister, Nunung, shows no interest in marrying, her family tries unsuccessfully to find a husband for her. ''Tamu Agung'' (''Exalted Guest'') is a 1955 Indonesian dramatic comedy film directed by Usmar Ismail. It stars Cassin Abbas, Nina Amora, M. Pandji Anom, and Chitra Dewi. ''Tiger from Tjampa'' ( id, Harimau Tjampa) is an Indonesian black and white drama film released in 1953, produced by Perfini, written and directed by D. Djajakusuma. It is still highly regarded today in Indonesia as an early portrayal in a fiction film of aspects of a traditional regional culture.
