Max Pemberton is a British medical doctor, journalist and author. He works full-time as a psychiatrist in the National Health Service (NHS). He is a weekly columnist for the ''Daily Mail'', writing comment on news events concerning culture, social and ethical issues, the politics of health care and the NHS. Before his move to the ''Daily Mail'', he was a columnist for the ''Daily Telegraph''. He also writes a monthly column for ''Reader’s Digest'' and is a regular contributor to ''The Spectator''. National Health Service (England)
The National Health Service (NHS) is the Publicly funded health care, publicly funded healthcare system in England, and one of the four National Health Service systems in the United Kingdom. It is the second largest single-payer healthcare system in the world after the Brazilian Sistema Único de Saúde. Same-sex marriage, also known as gay marriage, is the marriage of two people of the same sex or gender. marriage between same-sex couples is legally performed and recognized in 33 countries, with the most recent being Mexico, constituting some 1.35 billion people (17% of the world's population). 2010 United Kingdom General Election
The 2010 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010, with 45,597,461 registered voters entitled to vote to elect members to the House of Commons. The election took place in 650 constituencies across the United Kingdom under the first-past-the-post system. The election resulted in a large swing to the Conservative Party similar to that seen in 1979, the last time a Conservative opposition had ousted a Labour government. The Labour Party lost the 66-seat majority it had previously enjoyed, but no party achieved the 326 seats needed for a majority. ''Inside Health'' is a British radio programme broadcast on BBC Radio 4 discussing topical health issues which people struggle to understand. The first episode was broadcast on 10 January 2012.
