Max Media
Max Media is a company that owns radio stations throughout the United States. It is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. History Max Media was founded in 2001. Prior to this, some of the company's management had run the TVX Broadcast Group from 1979 until its sale in 1991 to Paramount Communications (which renamed Mata mare it the Paramount Stations Group), and had also run Max Media Properties (similarly named to the current company) from then until its sale in 1998 to the Sinclair Broadcast Group (which owned some former TVX stations). On September 30, 2013, the Cowles Publishing Company acquired Max Media's Montana television station cluster for $18 million. On October 31, 2013, Sinclair acquired the non-license assets of WPFO(TV), Waterville, Maine, for $13.6 million; the deal made it a sister station to WGME-TV, Portland, Maine, which already produced a newscast for the station. Sports Radio
Sports radio (or sports talk radio) is a radio format devoted entirely to discussion and broadcasting of sporting events. A widespread programming genre that has a narrow audience appeal, sports radio is characterized by an often- boisterous on-air style and extensive debate and analysis by both hosts and callers. Many sports talk stations also carry play-by-play (live commentary) of local sports teams as part of their regular programming. KJHM (101.5 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Watkins, Colorado, and serving the Denver metropolitan area. It is owned by Max Media and airs a Rhythmic oldies format branded as "Jammin' 101.5". Its studios are located on Parker Road in Aurora. KJHM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 97,000 watts at in height above average terrain (HAAT), and broadcasts from a tower about 60 miles northeast of Denver near Leader, shared with sister station KFCO. KJHM's signal isn't as strong in Downtown Denver, or in the western suburbs (Arvada, Lakewood, and Wheat Ridge); because of this, there is a 20,000 watt co-channel booster station in Commerce City, KJHM-1-FM, which helps the signal reach closer to Denver. Classic Hip Hop
Classic hip hop is a music radio format focusing primarily on hip hop music from the 1980s, 1990s, and the early to mid-2000s. Although stations with such a format date back as far as 2004, the format was first popularized in October 2014, after Radio One dropped a poorly performing news radio format from its Houston station KROI in favor of classic hip-hop. After attracting a dramatic increase in ratings, Radio One began to emulate the station's format and branding in other markets. At the same time, other major radio broadcasters began to introduce classic hip-hop stations in selected markets. It is owned by Max Media with its radio studios and offices on Parker Road in Aurora. KFCO has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 97,000 watts. Its transmitter is on Deter-Winters Road in Byers in rural Adams County, about 40 miles east of Denver. Active rock is a radio format used by many commercial radio stations across the United States and Canada. Active rock stations play a balance of new hard rock songs with valued classic rock favorites, normally with an emphasis on the harder edge of mainstream rock and album-oriented rock. KCGQ-FM (99.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an active rock format. Licensed to Gordonville, Missouri, United States, the station is currently owned by Max Media and licensed to MRR License LLC and features programming from ABC Radio and Premiere Radio Networks. History The station was started in 1978 by Rainbow Broadcasting, owners of KJAS 1170 located in Jackson, Missouri. The original call letters were KJAQ-FM, "Q99". The station was sold to Al Sikes in the early 1980s.
