Maverick Films is a Philippine film production company owned by Jinggoy Estrada. History 1999-2001: Millennium Cinema The film company was established in 1999 by actor-politician Jinggoy Estrada and producer Eric Cuatico as Millennium Cinema, serving as a sister company of Jesse Ejercito's Crown Seven Ventures. ''Pepeng Agimat'', its maiden movie starring Bong Revilla, was one of the entries in the 1999 Metro Manila Film Festival. 2000 saw the film company producing several films, such as '' Eto Na Naman Ako'', ''Minsan Ko Lang Sasabihin'', FPJ's ''Ang Dalubhasa'' and ''Ayos Na ang Kasunod'', and biopics ''Col. Elmer Jamias: Barako ng Maynila'' and ''The Ping Lacson Story''. In January 2001, amid the impeachment of then President Joseph Estrada, Millennium Cinema, along with Crown Seven Ventures, closed down. Jinggoy Estrada
Jose Pimentel Ejercito Jr. (; born February 17, 1963), also known as Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada or simply Jinggoy Estrada, is a Filipino politician, film actor, and producer serving as a Senator since 2022, and previously from 2004 to 2016. He was the president pro tempore of the Senate from 2007 to 2013, and as such, became the acting Senate President for the 47 days in 2013 between Juan Ponce Enrile's resignation and Franklin Drilon's election as the new Senate President. Before serving in the Senate, he was the vice mayor (1988–1992) and later mayor (1992–2001) of San Juan, Metro Manila. Estrada has been detained twice for corruption charges. In 2001, he and his father, ousted president Joseph Estrada, were arrested after being charged with plunder. He was released in 2003, elected to the Senate in 2004, and was acquitted in 2007. 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the 46th edition of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival. It is organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). It is the first edition of the festival to be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and also the first to make its entries available to an audience outside the Philippines as part of the festival's official run. 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 34th Annual 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival started from December 25, 2008 to January 7, 2009. This year marks the return of the Escalera brothers in ''Iskul Bukol 20 Years After (Ungasis and Escaleras Adventure)'' and the hardworking mother, Ina Montecillo in '' Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat''.
