Maurie Raper
Maurie Raper is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a in the 1960s and 1970s for Penrith and Cronulla-Sutherland in the NSWRL premiership. Raper was an inaugural player for Penrith and played in the club's first ever game. Early life Raper was born into a rugby league family with his older brother Johnny Raper going on to become an immortal of the game and his nephews Aaron Raper and Stuart Raper going on to forge careers with numerous clubs. Raper played his junior rugby league for Canterbury and Western Suburbs before joining newly admitted club Penrith in 1967. Playing career Raper played in Penrith's first ever game as a club against Canterbury which ended in a 15–12 defeat. Penrith went on to finish second last in their inaugural season avoiding the wooden spoon which was awarded to fellow new side Cronulla. The Penrith Panthers are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the western Sydney suburb of Penrith that competes in the NRL. The team is based west of the centre of Sydney, at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Penrith are the current reigning NRL Premiers, having won the title four times. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Cronulla, in the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australasia's premier rugby league competition. Johnny Raper
John William Raper (12 April 1939 – 9 February 2022) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer and coach. Nicknamed "Chook", he was a lock-forward who earned a then-record of 33 Test caps in the Australia national team between 1959 and 1968. Aaron Raper (born 28 July 1971) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. His position of choice was although he could also fill other spots in the team. Raper played in Australia for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Parramatta Eels and in England for the Castleford Tigers ( Heritage № 758). Background Raper is known for being the son of rugby league immortal Johnny Raper and the brother of former Cronulla Sharks head coach Stuart Raper.
