Maurie Fowler
Maurice John Fowler (10 August 1944 – 8 May 2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also played 120 games for the Kyabram Football Club. In 1967 he was cleared to but later that year transferred to Williamstown in the VFA without playing a senior game for Footscray. In his one season with the VFA Seagulls in 1967, he played 16 games and kicked 15 goals. He then returned to the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League, playing one season with Mooroopna and one season with Kyabram, before accepting the position as playing coach of the Palm Beach Currumbin Football Club on the Queensland Gold Coast in 1970. He coached Palm Beach Currumbin to 2 premierships between 1970 & 1974 before returning to Victoria as playing coach of the Robinvale Football Club in the Sunraysia Football League. Kyabram Football Club
The Kyabram Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bombers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Kyabram, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL). Kyabram was a foundation club in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL) and has been one of the most dominant. Only the Shepparton Football Club have won more premierships. The club had a successful era the 1920s, when they won five GVFL premierships, including the Kyabram Reserves winning the senior football premiership in the Northern Goulburn Football Association in 1929. The club has produced many VFL/AFL footballers, including Ross Dillon, Garry Lyon and Brett Deledio. Mooroopna Football Club Players
Mooroopna is a rural town located north of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is on the banks of the Goulburn River opposite the larger town of Shepparton. The Midland Highway crosses the river between the two towns. At the 2016 census, Mooroopna had a population of 7,942. History The name Mooroopna was used by the original Kaieltheban tribe living in the area and meant 'deep water hole'. This refers to a very deep part of the Goulburn River behind the old Mooroopna Hall. The Kaielthebans (population 50 in 1841) were part of the Yorta Yorta Nation living in the region before the arrival of Europeans. Kyabram is a town in north central Victoria, Australia. Kyabram is located in the centre of a rich irrigation district in the Goulburn River Valley, north of Melbourne. It is the second-largest town in the Shire of Campaspe, situated between the towns of Echuca and Shepparton and is close to the Murray River, Goulburn River, Campaspe River and Waranga Basin. Motor Neuron Disease
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a neurodegenerative disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles. ALS is the most common type of motor neuron diseases. Early symptoms of ALS include stiff muscles, muscle twitches, and gradual increasing weakness and muscle wasting. ''Limb-onset ALS'' begins with weakness in the arms or legs, while ''bulbar-onset ALS'' begins with difficulty speaking or swallowing. Half of the people with ALS develop at least mild difficulties with thinking and behavior, and about 15% develop frontotemporal dementia. Most people experience pain. The affected muscles are responsible for chewing food, speaking, and walking. Motor neuron loss continues until the ability to eat, speak, move, and finally the ability to breathe is lost.
