Mo Williams
Maurice Williams (born December 19, 1982) is the head men's basketball coach at Jackson State University and a former professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a successful high school career at Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi, Williams attended college at the University of Alabama, where he led his team as a freshman to a 27–8 record, and also shared an SEC regular-season championship. After two seasons at Alabama, Williams entered the 2003 NBA draft where he was selected with the 47th overall pick by the Utah Jazz. Throughout his career, he has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Maurice Carlos Williams (born January 26, 1979) is a former American football guard and offensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan. College career Williams started every game as a senior at the University of Michigan after playing as a reserve for two years. He played in the Citrus Bowl and was an all-Big Ten Conference honorable mention as a senior in 2000. Professional career Jacksonville Jaguars Williams was drafted in second round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Jaguars. In the 2007 season Williams started two games at left tackle, and eight games at right guard. 1977 Hanafi Muslim Siege
The 1977 Hanafi Siege was a terrorist attack, hostage-taking, and standoff in Washington, D.C., lasting from March 9 to March 11, 1977. Three buildings (the District Building, B'nai B'rith headquarters, and Islamic Center of Washington) were seized by twelve Hanafi Movement gunmen, who took 149 hostages. During the initial attack and takeover of the buildings, a journalist and a police officer were killed, and three others, including a city councilor, were injured. After a 39-hour standoff, the gunmen surrendered and all remaining hostages were released. The gunmen were led by Hamaas Abdul Khaalis, who wanted to bring attention to the murder of his family in 1973. They had several demands, including that the government hand over the killers of Khaalis' family and Malcolm X to them, as well as that the premiere of ''Mohammad, Messenger of God'' be canceled, and the film destroyed, because they considered it sacrilegious. Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs were an American doo-wop/ R&B vocal group in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Originally the (Royal) Charms, the band changed its name to the Gladiolas in 1957 and the Excellos in 1958, before finally settling on the Zodiacs in 1959. Early history Maurice Williams was born 26 April 1938 in Lancaster, South Carolina. His first experience with music was in the church, where his mother and sister both performed. By the time he was six, Williams was performing regularly there. With his childhood friend Earl Gainey, Williams formed the gospel group the Junior Harmonizers. Morris Williams
Morris Williams (20 August 1809 – 3 January 1874), was a Welsh clergyman and writer, commonly known by his bardic name Nicander. He worked on the Welsh Prayer Book of 1841 and himself produced a metrical Welsh Psalms of David. Early life Williams was born at Caernarfon, the son of William Morris. His mother, Sarah, was the sister of Peter Jones (Pedr Fardd). The family moved to Coed Cae Bach, Llangybi and he went to school at Llanystumdwy. He was then apprenticed to a carpenter. Once his talent for poetry had been recognised, he was able to attend the King's School, Chester, followed by Jesus College, Oxford. He was ordained as an Anglican clergyman in 1836, and appointed Curate of Holywell, later of Bangor and Pentir, and eventually of Amlwch in Anglesey. In 1840, Williams married Ann Jones of Denbigh. Morris Thomas Williams (10 April 1924 – 28 October 1995) was an Australian politician. He was born in Swan Hill to farmer Leslie George Williams and Anna Louisa Morris. He attended local state schools and then studied at Melbourne University, earning a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours). From 1945 to 1946 he was a research assistant in the public service, and then with the Institute of Public Affairs. On 29 November 1950 he married Agnes Turner; they had a daughter; Heather Agnes on 26 November 1951. An economist, Williams was a Shire of Doncaster councillor from 1962 to 1968 and from 1970 to 1973, serving as mayor from 1965 to 1966.
