Maurice Sleem
Maurice Sleem (born in Kfarshima, Lebanon, on February 5, 1954) is a Lebanese politician. He has been the Minister of National Defense since September 10, 2021 (the formation of the government of Prime Minister Najib Mikati). He is a Brigadier General in the Lebanese Armed Forces (retired). During his 40-year career, he held key posts and staff assignments in Army operational Units. He also worked at the Lebanese Presidency for many years. He retired from the Army in 2012. The Ministry of National Defense ( ar, وزارة الدفاع الوطني ''Wizārat al-Difāʾ al-Waṭanī'') is Lebanon's service section for the Lebanese Armed Forces. Najib Azmi Mikati ( ar, نجيب عزمي ميقاتي; born 24 November 1955) is a Lebanese politician and businessman, and three-time Prime Minister of Lebanon whose current term began in September 2021. He also serves as the acting President of Lebanon as of October 2022 in his capacity as prime minister. He previously served as Prime Minister from June 2011 to February 2014 and from April to July 2005. He also served as Minister of Public Works and Transport from December 1998 to 2003. In 2005, he headed an interim government that supervised the general election following the withdrawal of Syrian troops. In 2011, he formed his second government backed by the March 8 alliance, before he resigned in 2013. He was a member of parliament for Tripoli from 2000 to 2005 and was re-elected in 2009 and 2018. Zeina Akar
Zeina Adra ( Akar; ar, زينة عكر عدرا; born 1964) is a Lebanese politician who served as the Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon from 21 January 2020 to 10 September 2021. She was the first female defence minister in the Arab world. Early life and career Zeina Akar was born in Koura. She has a bachelor's degree in marketing and management from the Lebanese American University. In 1998, she and her husband founded the Social and Cultural Development Association (INMA), a development NGO to provide educational, health and economic services in Kefraya and Lebanon. Kfarshima
Kfarshima ( ar, كفرشيما), also spelled Kfarchima, is a town in the Baabda District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate, southeast of Beirut and is part of Greater Beirut. The town is populated by Lebanese Christians: mainly Melkite Greek Catholic and Maronites, with smaller communities of Greek Orthodox and Protestant Evangelical Christians. Kfarshima was subject to heavy bombing during the Lebanese civil war since it was a primary fault line. Kfarshima is the birthplace of the composers musicians and singers, Philemon Wehbi, Halim el-Roumi and Melhem Barakat, and the singers Marie Sleiman, and Majida El Roumi. The Free Patriotic Movement ( ar, التيار الوطني الحر, ) is a Lebanese political party. Founded by Michel Aoun in 2005, the party is currently led by Aoun son-in-law Gebran Bassil since 2015. Ideology The Free Patriotic movement follows Lebanese nationalism and follows the agenda of Gen. Michel Aoun. FPM is anti-refugee, pro-civil state.
