Maurice Maréchal (comics Artist)
Maurice Maréchal (6 June 1922 in Waremme, Belgium – 21 March 2008 in Polleur, Belgium) was a Belgian comics artist, best known for the series ''Prudence Petitpas''. Maréchal became a professional comics artist in 1957, when he started publishing in the Belgian comics magazine ''Tintin (magazine), Tintin''. Here he created his popular series ''Prudence Petitpas'', about an old lady who solves crimes. Maréchal was well aware that by having a senior person as his central character he would stand out among the many youthful characters in most other comics series. The series originally started off as short stories, until finally adapting longer stories as well. The scripts were written by René Goscinny, Greg (cartoonist), Greg, Raymond Macherot and Mittéï. Waremme
Waremme (; nl, Borgworm, ; wa, Wareme) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, in Belgium. The city is located on the River Geer ( nl, Jeker), in the loessic Haspengouw region. The economy is based on the cultivation of cereals and sugar beet, and on the food industry. Prudence Petitpas was a Belgian comics series, created by Maurice Maréchal. Concept ''Prudence Petitpas'' is a humoristic series about an old lady, Prudence Petitpas, who lives in the fictional village Moucheron. Much like Miss Marple, she investigates crimes that the police can not solve. René Goscinny
René Goscinny (, ; 14 August 1926 – 5 November 1977) was a French comic editor and writer, who created the ''Astérix'' comic book series with illustrator Albert Uderzo. Raised largely in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he attended French schools, he lived for a time in the United States. There he met Belgian cartoonist Morris. After his return to France, they collaborated for more than 20 years on the comic series ''Lucky Luke'' (in what was considered the series' golden age). He wrote ''Iznogoud'' with Jean Tabary. Goscinny also wrote a series of children's books known as ''Le Petit Nicolas'' (''Little Nicolas'') illustrated by Jean-Jacques Sempé. Michel Régnier (5 May 1931 – 29 October 1999), best known by his pseudonym Greg, was a Belgian cartoonist best known for ''Achille Talon'', and later became editor of ''Tintin'' magazine. Biography Regnier was born in Ixelles, Belgium in 1931. His first series, ''Les Aventures de Nestor et Boniface'', appeared in the Belgian magazine '' Vers l'Avenir'' when he was sixteen. Raymond Macherot
Raymond Macherot (30 March 1924 – 26 September 2008) was a Belgian cartoonist. Although not nearly as famous as fellow Belgian cartoonists such as Hergé or André Franquin, Macherot's work, both as artist and writer, remains highly regarded among critics and collectors.
