Maurice LeClair
J. Maurice LeClair (June 19, 1927 – April 25, 2020) was a Canadian physician, businessman, civil servant, and academic. Biography Born in Sayabec, Quebec, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1947 and a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1951 from McGill University. In 1953, he became a General Practitioner in Shawinigan, Quebec. In 1955, he became a Fellow at the Mayo Clinic and received a Master of Science in Medicine in 1958 from the University of Minnesota. Returning to Canada in 1958, he became a consulting internist at the Notre Dame Hospital. In 1962, he became Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and Head of the department in 1965. In 1968, he became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke. From 1968 to 1970, he was Vice President of the Medical Research Council of Canada. Sayabec, Quebec
Sayabec () is a municipality located in the La Matapédia Regional County Municipality (RCM) in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Matapédia Valley between the Chic-Choc Mountains of the Appalachian near Lake Matapédia. The main activities of the village are agriculture and forestry. It has a population of approximately 2,000, the third biggest municipality in its RCM after Amqui and Causapscal. Due to the presence of the chipboards plant called Panval, the biggest industry of the valley, Sayabec is an important regional economic centre. The territory was historically occupied by Mi'kmaq people, a First Nation who occupied much of the Gaspe Peninsula. Its first French Canadian inhabitant was Pierre Brochu, who came in 1833. At the end of the 19th century settlers began to come in the region to work in sawmills. Robert Bandeen
Robert Angus Bandeen (October 29, 1930 – August 16, 2010) was a Canadian businessman and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian National Railways. Born in Rodney, Ontario on October 29, 1930, the third of four children of John Robert Bandeen and Jessie Marie Thomson. Bandeen's father was a tobacco buyer and farmer while his mother was an elementary schoolteacher. Raised on the family farm in Duart, Ontario, Bandeen and his siblings worked tobacco harvests throughout their school years. The Bandeen children excelled at school and Robert earned a scholarship to the University of Western Ontario where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science, graduating in 1952 with the Governor General's Academic Medal. He was accepted directly into the Ph.D. program in economics at Duke University from which he graduated in 1955.
