Maung People
The Maung people, or Warruwi, are an Aboriginal Australian people living on the Goulburn Islands, in the Arafura sea off the coast of the Northern Territory. Language Maung is not one of the majority Pama-Nyungan languages, but belongs to the Iwaidjic subgroup of the Iwaidjan languages, spoken, together with Manangkardi, on Goulburn Island. The language was first described in some detail by Arthur Capell and Heather Hinch. Country Norman Tindale estimated the extent of Maung territory at , covering both the Goulburn Islands and the adjacent coastal lands. Their eastern extension was as far as east to King River, Braithwaite Point and Junction Bay. Their western limits were at the Sandy and Angularli creeks. Chit Maung
Journal Kyaw U Chit Maung (; 1913–1945) was a journalist and patriotic writer of Burma / Myanmar. He worked for ''Bogyoke'' Aung San, the father of Burmese politician Aung San Suu Kyi. He was Chief Editor of ''New Light of Burma' Later his own ''Journal Kyaw Newspaper'' (The Weekly Thunderer) became well known in Burma. Chit Maung was born in Okpho, Thayarwady District, and studied at Latpatan Town High School. After he passed high school, he started work for Rangoon newspapers and became newspaper. Maung Wunna ( my, မောင် ဝဏ္ဏ, 19 January 1947 – 11 January 2011) was a two-time Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards-winning Burmese director and writer. He came from a family heavily involved in the entertainment industry—his father Thadu was a director and his brother Thu Maung was a prominent singer and actor and Min Lu was a reputed satirist. Saw Maung ( my, စောမောင်, ; 5 December 1928 – 24 July 1997) was a Burmese army general and statesman who served as Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) in Myanmar and Prime Minister of Burma from 1988 to 1992. Saw Maung ( my, စောမောင် ; 1900–1969) was a Burmese artist. He was the son of the artist Saya Aye (painter) (1872–1930), who in turn was an apprentice of Saya Chone (1866–1917), a young Royal Artist under King Thibaw. Nay Win Maung ( my, နေဝင်းမောင်; June 30, 1962 – January 1, 2012) was a Burmese physician, businessman and pro-democracy activist.
