Matías Ariel Fernández Fernández (, born 15 May 1986) is a Chilean professional footballer who plays for Deportes La Serena as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his dribbling skills, also being a free kick specialist. After starting out at Colo-Colo, he spent several seasons with Villarreal, Sporting CP and Fiorentina, having moved to Europe in 2006. He also played professionally in Mexico and Colombia. Matías Jesús Almeyda (; born 21 December 1973) is an Argentine professional football manager and former player who is the current manager of Greek Super League club AEK Athens. Nicknamed ''El Pelado'' ("bald one") despite his traditionally long hair, he spent most of his career at River Plate and in Italy, representing four teams in the latter country. Matías Romero Avendaño (24 February 1837 – 30 December 1898) was a Mexican politician and diplomat who served three times as Secretary of Finance and twice as ambassador of Mexico to the United States during the 19th century. Early life Romero began preparatory courses in Law while still living in Oaxaca. In 1855 he moved to Mexico City, and he received his law degree on 12 October 1857. He joined the liberals under command of General Ignacio Zaragoza, and traveled to Guanajuato to join the Army. However, he was instead commissioned into the Ministry of Relations. He accompanied Juárez to Guadalajara, but was briefly imprisoned by Commander Landa. After being freed, he followed Juárez to Veracruz via Panamá. The journalist, son of the legendary Matías Prats Cañete, began his career at radio station La Voz de Madrid. In 1975, he began working for Televisión Española in the programme ''Redacción Noche'' presented by Joaquín Arozamena on La 2. Matías Nicolas Pavoni Escabuso (born 25 September 1980) is an Argentine retired footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. After starting his career with Newell's Old Boys he played mostly with Cádiz, representing the club in La Liga, Segunda División and Segunda División B and appearing in a total of 168 competitive matches (29 goals).
