''Mature Themes'' is the ninth studio album by the American recording artist Ariel Pink. It was released on August 20, 2012 through 4AD, and is the second album recorded with Pink's band. It is the final album released under Pink's musical project "Haunted Graffiti," as he would subsequently release material under his name starting with his follow-up album, ''pom pom'' (2014). The album was recognized as one of "The 100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far", a list published by ''Pitchfork'' in August 2014. Promotion and singles The lead single is a cover of the Donnie and Joe Emerson song "Baby". The song was met with positive reception from the music press, and was deemed "Best New Track" by ''Pitchfork''. On July 9, "Only in My Dreams" was released as the second single. Ariel Marcus Rosenberg ( ; born June 24, 1978), professionally known as Ariel Pink, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter whose work draws heavily from the popular music of the 1960s–1980s. His lo-fi aesthetic and home-recorded albums proved influential to many indie musicians starting in the late 2000s. He is frequently cited as "godfather" of the hypnagogic pop and chillwave movements, and he is credited with galvanizing a larger trend involving the evocation of the media, sounds, and outmoded technologies of prior decades, as well as an equal appreciation for high and low art in independent music. Natalie Laura Mering (born June 11, 1988), known professionally as Weyes Blood (pronounced ), is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She was primarily raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She has been performing her own material under variations of the name Weyes Blood since 2003. Her music has undergone significant changes throughout her career. She has been involved in the underground noise music scene and was briefly bassist of the Portland, Oregon-based group Jackie-O Motherfucker and was singer for the band Satanized. Donnie And Joe Emerson
Donnie and Joe Emerson are an American musical duo. Their late 1970s work was largely unknown until it was rediscovered by a new generation of fans in the 21st century. Background Living on a 1600-acre family farm in rural Fruitland, Washington, in the late 1970s, the brothers' father, Don Emerson Sr., encouraged his teenage sons' musical interest as they began writing and playing their own music. Don Sr. built his sons a state-of-the-art $100,000 recording studio and in it they self-produced and self-released their first album, ''Dreamin' Wild'', in 1979, an eclectic mix of rock, soul, R&B, country and funk music, on their own Enterprise & Co. label. ''Pom Pom'' (stylized as ''pom pom'') is the tenth studio album by American recording artist Ariel Pink, released on November 17, 2014 through 4AD. It was his first release credited solely to himself, and his last on 4AD. Several of its songs were co-written with the ailing Kim Fowley, who died the following January. Critics generally gave the album positive reviews. Only one single was issued from the album: "Put Your Number in My Phone". ''Before Today'' is the eighth studio album by American recording artist Ariel Pink, credited to "Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti", and released on June 8, 2010. The album marked Pink's debut on the record label 4AD. It was his first official LP of new recordings since 2003's ''Worn Copy'' and his first written and recorded with a supporting band, referred to in the liner notes as "Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti". The album was critically acclaimed upon release, with ''Pitchfork'' placing the album at #9 on its list of "The Top 50 Albums of 2010".
