Matty Grooves Records is a record label which was started by the members of Fairport Convention in 2004, when Woodworm Records was put into hold. The name is derived from the English folk song "Matty Groves". Cropredy Festival
Fairport's Cropredy Convention (formerly Cropredy Festival) is an annual festival of folk and rock music, headed by British folk-rock band Fairport Convention and held on the edge of the village of Cropredy in Oxfordshire, England. The festival has taken place in August annually since 1976. Fairport's Cropredy Convention attracts up to 20,000 people each year. The festival features a single stage at the lower end of the sloping arena field. There are also ancillary events, such as Morris dancing in the streets and live music at the village's two pubs. History The festival began as a private performance to about 750 people by the British folk rock band Fairport Convention in a village back garden in July 1976. Shuffle And Go
''Shuffle and Go'' is the twenty-ninth studio album by British folk rock band Fairport Convention, released in January 2020. It was their last to feature drummer Gerry Conway who left the group in 2022. Recording and release Recording for the album took place at Woodworm Studios in October 2019. The album was released via the band's website in time for their winter tour which began in January 2020, where the album was available to buy from the merchandise table at every show. The album then got an official release on 28 February 2020 from all other retailers and platforms. Critical reception John Barlass of At The Barrier called ''Shuffle and Go'' "a most enjoyable piece of work" and David Kidman of Folk Radio also gave the album praise, calling it "another solid, and solidly desirable, entry in the Fairport canon." Recording and release Recording for the album began in March 2014 and concluded in November. During their winter tour at the beginning of the year, the band played some of the material destined for the album as a taster for their live audience. Festival Bell
''Festival Bell'' is the twenty-fifth studio album by British folk rock band Fairport Convention, released in January 2011. Overview The name of the album (as well as the cover and the title track) is a reference to the bell of the same name that currently rings in St Mary's Church in Cropredy, Oxfordshire. The track "Ukulele Central" features guest appearances from comedian Frank Skinner and singer Joe Brown. The song "Mercy Bay" tells of the ill-fated voyage of to search for Franklin's lost expedition, itself searching for the Northwest Passage. Fairport Convention
Fairport Convention are an English folk rock band, formed in 1967 by guitarists Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, bassist Ashley Hutchings and drummer Shaun Frater (with Frater replaced by Martin Lamble after their first gig.) They started out heavily influenced by American folk rock, with a setlist dominated by Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell songs and a sound that earned them the nickname "the British Jefferson Airplane". Vocalists Judy Dyble and Iain Matthews joined them before the recording of their self-titled debut in 1968; afterwards, Dyble was replaced by Sandy Denny, with Matthews later leaving during the recording of their third album.
