Mattie Donnelly (Gaelic Footballer)
Mattie Donnelly is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for the Trillick club and the Tyrone county team. In 2015, he was a key part of a Tyrone teamed that reached the All-Ireland SFC semi-final, and was named in the All Stars team. Donnelly was named in the Ireland squad for the 2014 international rules test in Australia. Following the retirement of Seán Cavanagh in 2017, Donnelly was appointed Tyrone senior captain. Trillick () is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It had a population of 2,439 people in the 2011 Census. Trillick is in the Civil Parish of Kilskeery, Barony of Omagh East. It is located within the Diocese of Clogher (both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland). History Early history Trillick ''Trí Leac'' (in Irish) “three stones”, is another term for a chambered tomb. The village is named from a ruined example beside Trillick Castle. Pádraig Hampsey (born 15 April 1994) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Coalisland Na Fianna GAC, Coalisland club and the Tyrone county football team, Tyrone county team. He started at corner-back for Tyrone in the 2018 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, 2018 All-Ireland Final defeat to Dublin county football team, Dublin. A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch. Before the start of a match, a coin toss between captains of the opposing teams is used to determine which end of the ground each team will kick to. The 2021 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was the 134th final of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and the culmination of the 2021 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Mayo County Football Team
The Mayo county football team (;) represents Mayo in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Mayo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. The Sam Maguire Cup ( ga, Chorn Sam Mhic Uidhir), often referred to as Sam or The Sam , is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the main competition in the sport of Gaelic football. The Sam Maguire Cup was first presented to Kildare, winners of the 1928 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. Seán Cavanagh
Seán Cavanagh (born 16 February 1983) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Moy Tír Na nÓg club and for the Tyrone county team. He is a five-time All Star winner. He won All-Ireland Championships for Tyrone at minor level and three times at senior level, and captained Ireland in the International Rules Series. His playing style was very attack-minded, considering he is usually deployed as a midfielder like the doc himself, and he usually ended up scoring more than most of the forwards on the team. 2014 International Rules Test
The 2014 International Rules Series (officially the 2014 Virgin Australia International Rules Test) was contested between Gaelic footballers from Ireland and Australian footballers from Australia. The 18th series of international rules football since the concept's inception in 1984, Ireland entered as defending champions, with Australia seeking their first series win since 2010. The match was played at Perth's Patersons Stadium on Saturday 22 November. Unlike previous years, the series was reduced to a single one-off test match, which Australia won 56-46 to record their first series win in four years and the Cormac McAnallen Cup.
