Matthew David McQueen (born May 20, 1984), better known by his stage name Matthewdavid, is an American record producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, California. He is a co-founder of Leaving Records. He has collaborated with Sun Araw, Dog Bite, and Serengeti. Early life Matthewdavid was born in Atlanta, Georgia. As a child, he took guitar lessons and piano lessons. At the age of 14, he moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida with his family. At the age of 15, he started making music. He attended Florida State University. In 2006, he moved to Los Angeles, California. ''Outmind'' is the first studio album by Matthewdavid. It was released on Brainfeeder on April 19, 2011. Production It took four years for Matthewdavid to create the album. In a 2011 interview with ''Los Angeles Times'', he said, "I think it's far-out enough to raise some questions from the listener, but it basically tells the story of my Los Angeles experience." The album includes guest appearances from Dogbite, Flying Lotus, and Niki Randa. Critical reception Keith Pishnery of '' Fact'' wrote, "In many ways, ''Outmind'' is one long, broken jam, but Matthewdavid succeeds in keeping the cacophony of disparate sound sources cohesive while maintaining a loose overall rhythm, just like the life and nature from which these sounds originate." Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 66, based on 10 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Dylan Kilby of '' MusicOMH'' gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, describing it as "a cluster of deep house grooves, chopped and screwed R&B vocals, and sub-bass that would be played at a futuristic Stonewall Inn." David P. Madson (born 1976), better known by his stage name Odd Nosdam, is an American underground hip hop producer, DJ and visual artist. He is co-founder of the record label Anticon. He has remixed tracks by a variety of bands and artists including Boards of Canada, The Notwist, and Sole. History Odd Nosdam was first noticed for his production on ''cLOUDDEAD'', the debut album released in 2001 by cLOUDDEAD, his former group with Yoni Wolf of Why? and Doseone. In 2002, under the name Reaching Quiet, Yoni Wolf and Nosdam released their collaborative effort, ''In the Shadow of the Living Room''. Brainfeeder is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California, founded by Flying Lotus in 2008, focusing on electronic music and instrumental hip hop. It has signed artists such as Ras G, Samiyam, The Gaslamp Killer, Thundercat, The Underachievers, Lapalux, Daedelus, and Mr. Oizo. David Cohn, better known by his stage name Serengeti, is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. Early life Serengeti is the great-nephew of jazz trumpeter Sonny Cohn. He grew up in various places in Chicago, Illinois, as his parents divorced when he was 5 years old. At the age of 12, he got into hip hop. He started writing verses while attending Morgan Park High School. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he became friends with Open Mike Eagle. dublab is a non-profit music public broadcasting internet radio station based in Los Angeles. They have also been involved with art exhibition, film projects, event production, and record releases. These Shows are archived and downloadable on the dublab website. dublab also broadcasts on KLDB-LP on 99.1 FM in Los Angeles. Their name is a portmanteau of dubbing and laboratory for the combined meaning: a place of experimenting with sampling music. Examples of this, besides their stream, is their film production ''Secondhand Sureshots'' where they gave producers, such as Daedelus, five dollars to buy albums from thrift stores and sampling the music to create new tracks.
