Matthew Simpson (footballer)
Matthew Simpson (born Kevin Matthew Simpson 9 April 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Originally from Mayne Australian Football Club in the Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL), Simpson was a zone selection for the Bears at the end of the 1987 VFL season. Simpson made nine appearances for Brisbane in the 1988 VFL season, with his best performance coming in a win over Richmond when he was awarded two Brownlow Medal votes for his 22 disposal game. Mayne Australian Football Club
Mayne Australian Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in the Brisbane suburb of Enoggera. The club colours are black and gold and they are nicknamed the Tigers. It is the most successful club in the history of the Queensland Australian Football League, Queensland's highest level of competition, with 15 premierships from the 1920s to the 1980s. The clubs most recent premiership was in 1982, with a Grand Final appearance in 1985. However after a long drought of success, and following its exclusion from the competition in 1999 struggled to remain competitive with the state's top clubs. As a result the club's men's team currently competes in the second level below the QAFL, QFA Division 1, and the women's team competes in QFAW Division 2. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. The South Australian National Football League, or SANFL ( or ''S-A-N-F-L''), is an Australian rules football league based in the Australian state of South Australia. It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Originally formed as the South Australian Football Association on 30 April 1877, the SANFL is the oldest surviving football league of any code in Australia and is the 7th oldest club football league in the world.
