Matthew Rosslee
Matthew Rosslee (born 24 February 1987) is a South African rugby union footballer. His regular playing position is inside-centre. He represented the Griquas (rugby), Griquas in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup. He previously played for Western Province (rugby), Western Province and played in the Varsity Cup for the Ikey Tigers. He currently plays his rugby in Hong Kong and has signed a playing contract with the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union. He made his debut for Hong Kong against Kenya in August 2016, and played in the 2016 Cup of Nations. He is the playing captain of Societe Generale Valley RFC, Valley Rugby Football Club. The club won the Grand Championships in the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 playing seasons under his captaincy. He has previously been involved with the Cheetahs Super Rugby squad, the SA Premier XV (2011), SA Students XV (2009), SA Students 7's who won the 2008 Student World Cup 7's in Spain. Valley RFC is a sports club based in Hong Kong with a rugby section ( known as Societe Generale Valley RFC for sponsorship reasons) as well as Netball and Hockey sections. It also has a junior rugby academy called Valley Fort. The club is historically based in Happy Valley, Hong Kong, inside the Happy Valley Racecourse, hence the inspiration for its logo, the Knight chess piece. The Griquas (; af, Griekwa, often confused with ''!Orana'', which is written as ''Korana'' or ''Koranna'') are a subgroup of heterogeneous former Khoe-speaking nations in Southern Africa with a unique origin in the early history of the Cape Colony. Text was copied from this source, which is available under a Creative Commons license. Under apartheid, they were given a special racial classification under the broader category of " Coloured". Similar to the Trekboers (another Afrikaans-speaking group of the time), they originally populated the frontiers of the nascent Cape Colony (founded in 1652). Ikey Tigers
The Ikey Tigers are a South African rugby union team from the University of Cape Town in the Western Cape who compete in the FNB Varsity Cup. History The "Ikey" nickname originated in the 1910s as an anti-semitic epithet applied to UCT students by the students of Stellenbosch University, because of the supposed large number of Jewish students at UCT. Since the inception of the FNB Varsity Cup, the Ikey Tigers have been one of the strongest competitors, finishing runners up in 2008 and 2010. Both final loses fell at the hands of the Ikeys arch rival, the Maties. In 2008 UCT went down to Maties by 16–10 in the inaugural Varsity Cup final after topping the log at the end of the round robin stage of the competition.
