Matthew Mason-Cox
Matthew Ryan Mason-Cox is an Australian politician serving as President of the New South Wales Legislative Council, President of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 4 May 2021. He is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council for the Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), Liberal Party since 28 September 2006, with a short two-week stint as an Independent in May 2021. Mason-Cox was the Minister for Fair Trading between May 2014 and April 2015 in the Baird ministry (2014–2015), first Mike Baird (politician), Baird ministry (one of the shortest ministerial careers in NSW) and served as Leader of the Liberal Party of Australia in the Legislative Council during 2014 and 2015. The Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), also known as NSW Labor, is the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party. The parliamentary leader is elected from and by the members of the party caucus, comprising all party members in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The party factions have a strong influence on the election of the leader. The leader's position is dependent on the continuing support of the caucus (and party factions) and the leader may be deposed by failing to win a vote of confidence of parliamentary members. Peter Thomas Primrose (born 26 September 1955) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 1996. Natasha Marianne Maclaren-Jones (born 11 March 1976) is an Australian politician, and is a Liberal Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since March 2011. 2015 New South Wales State Election
A general election for the 56th Parliament of New South Wales (NSW) was held on Saturday 28 March 2015. Members were elected to all 93 seats in the Legislative Assembly using optional preferential voting. Members were also elected to 21 of the 42 seats in the Legislative Council using optional preferential proportional representation voting. The election was conducted by the New South Wales Electoral Commission. The one-term incumbent Liberal/National Coalition Government led by Premier Mike Baird and Deputy Premier Troy Grant was re-elected to a second four-year term with a slightly reduced majority in the Legislative Assembly, where government is formed.
