Matthew Long (director)
Matthew Long (born July 7, 1982 in Prince George, British Columbia) is a Vancouver-based writer, director, and producer. His films include ''The Great Retro-Chic Revival'' (2005), ''Trans Neptune: or The Fall of Pandora, Drag Queen Cosmonaut'' (2007), and ''The Anachronism'' (2008). Long's films often contain elements of science fiction, although in ''The Anachronism'' these elements are placed against the backdrop of a period piece set in a pre-high-technology era, and is firmly in the steampunk genre. In May 2005, ''The Great Retro-Chic Revival'' won Leo Awards in the categories of Best Student Production and Best Direction in a Student Film. The world premiere for ''Trans-Neptune'' took place at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007. Matthew Long (firefighter)
Matthew Long (born 1966) is a New York City firefighter who was hit by a charter bus on December 22, 2005 while riding his bicycle to work during a transit worker strike. Long recovered from his injuries, and was included on the list of the world's 25 fittest men published by ''Men's Fitness'' in 2010. Despite suffering chronic pain and his right leg being slightly shorter than his left he completed the New York City Marathon in 2008 in a time of seven hours, 21 minutes. He published his first book, ''The Long Run: A New York City Firefighter's Triumphant Comeback from Crash Victim to Elite Athlete'' in 2010 (). It was co-authored by Charles Butler. Matthew Long (rower)
Matthew Long (born 27 June 1975) is an Australian former Olympian rower. He was an Australian national champion, a representative at World Championships and won a bronze medal in the coxless pair at Sydney 2000 Club and state rowing Long attended Newington College and coached by Olympian and Old Newingtonian Michael Morgan. He rowed three times in Newington crews at the New South Wales GPS Head of the River, and twice won the 1st VIII event in 1991 and 1992. Long's senior club rowing was initially from the Sydney Rowing Club and later after his relocation to Victoria, from the Mercantile Rowing Club in Melbourne. Long was selected at stroke in the New South Wales state representative men's eight to contest the 1998.King's Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships.
