Matthew Jim Elliott, Baron Elliott of Mickle Fell, (born 12 February 1978) is a British political strategist and lobbyist who has served as the chief executive of a number of organisations and been involved in various referendum campaigns, including Vote Leave. Elliott was the founder and has served as chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance in 2004, Big Brother Watch and Business for Britain. He has also worked as a political strategist, acting as campaign director for the successful NOtoAV campaign in the 2011 Alternative Vote referendum. In 2015, Elliott became the chief executive of Vote Leave, the official organisation advocating for a 'leave' vote in the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum. Matthew Thomas Gray Elliott (born 28 September 1971) is a former cricketer from Australia, who played as a left-handed opening batsman. Beginnings with Victoria After he made his debut for Victoria in the 1992–1993 season, he soon established himself as one of the top opening batsmen in Australian domestic cricket, before progressing his way through to the Bendigo and District Cricket Association playing for the Bendigo Cricket Club in his role as an opening batsman. Test career Elliott was called up to the Australian national team in the 1996–97 season, making his Test debut against the West Indies in November 1996. Unfortunately for Elliott, in just his second Test match he was injured in a mid-pitch collision with teammate Mark Waugh, resulting in the need for knee surgery. Matthew Elliott (c. 1739 – May 7, 1814) was an Irish-born merchant, farmer, colonial official, politician and military officer. He was active in British North America during and after the era of the American Revolution. Elliott held a key position in Anglo-Indian affairs during the time period. Elliott came to America in 1761 and settled in Pennsylvania during the French and Indian War. As a trader in western Pennsylvania and Ohio in the 1760s and 1770s, and as a captain in the British Indian Department during the Revolution, he had lived and fought among the tribes of the Northwest, particularly the Shawnee. He was married to a Shawnee woman and spoke the language fluently, his sympathies with the Indians. With the Shawnee woman, Elliott had two sons named Alexander and Matthew. Matthew Elliott (born 8 December 1964) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach, commentator and former player. He has previously coached in the NRL with the Canberra Raiders, Penrith Panthers and the New Zealand Warriors, as well the Bradford Bulls in the Super League and the United States national team. Elliott is currently the Assistant Coach at the St. George Illawarra Dragons. Playing career Born on Thursday Island, Elliott grew up in Townsville in far north Queensland. Eric Matthew "Matt" Elliott (born October 1, 1968) is a former American football player. He played college football as a center and guard for the University of Michigan from 1988 to 1991. He started 35 games at Michigan and was selected as an All-American in 1991. He played professional football as a center and guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins in 1992 and for the Carolina Panthers from 1995 to 1997. Matthew Stephen Elliott (born 1 November 1968) is a former professional footballer, most notably as a defender for Leicester City. Born in England, he was never selected to play for them on an international level; he instead played for the Scotland national team, for whom he was eligible due to his Scottish grandmother. He captained Leicester to victory in the 2000 Football League Cup Final scoring both goals. Club career Elliott began his career in non-league football with Leatherhead and Epsom & Ewell, before getting his first taste of professional football with Charlton Athletic. Matt Elliott is an English guitarist and singer-songwriter, originally from Bristol, England and now based in France, who plays dark folk music. He also produced and recorded electronic music under the name The Third Eye Foundation. Biography Elliott started recording with the band Linda's Strange Vacation, which included Kate Wright ( Movietone) and Rachel Brook (Movietone/Flying Saucer Attack), around the time Wright and Brook formed Movietone, and Brook and Dave Pearce formed Flying Saucer Attack. Elliott was a part-time member of both bands.
