Matthew Boulton (actor)
Matthew Boulton (20 January 1893 – 10 February 1962) was a British stage and film character actor, who often played police officers and military officers. Having established himself in the theatre, he began taking supporting roles in films including an appearance in Alfred Hitchcock's ''Sabotage''. He subsequently emigrated to Hollywood where he worked for the remainder of his career. ''The Woman in Green'' is a 1945 American film, the eleventh of the fourteen ''Sherlock Holmes'' films based on the characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Directed by Roy William Neill, it stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson, with Hillary Brooke as the woman of the title and Henry Daniell as Professor Moriarty. The film follows an original premise with material taken from "The Final Problem" (1893) and "The Adventure of the Empty House" (1903). ''The Thirteenth Chair'' is a 1937 American mystery film directed by George B. Seitz, based on the 1919 stage play by Bayard Veiller, and starring Dame May Whitty, Lewis Stone, Madge Evans, and Elissa Landi. This was the third film adaptation of the play. There was an earlier version by director Tod Browning in 1929, with Bela Lugosi in a supporting role, and an even earlier 1919 silent film adaptation that starred Creighton Hale.
