Axium
Axium was a Missouri-based band once headed by ''American Idol'' season 7 winner David Cook. Their sound was described as Alice in Chains meets Tantric. History David Cook formed Axium in his junior year of high school alongside drummer Bobby Kerr. The band was originally called Red Eye, but they changed it because it sounded too much like Pink Eye. The first performance as Axium (actually spelled Axiom at the time) consisted of Cook, Kerr, as well as Matt McLaughlin on guitar and Drew Foss on bass. Foss was soon replaced by Anthony Mazzarella, and this lineup recorded an unnamed 5 song demo. Cook and Kerr then went through a few bass players in search of the perfect band, but these two always stuck together. It was in May 2001 that Cook and Kerr finally found Jeff Shrout. In June 2004 they recruited Travis Grogan on bass in support of their final studio album, The Story Thus Far. Post-grunge
Post-grunge is a derivative of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Originally, the term was used almost pejoratively to label mid-1990s rock bands such as Bush (British band), Bush, Candlebox and Collective Soul that emulated the original sound of grunge. Blindsided (album)
''Blindsided'' is the second studio album by the band Axium, and the first to be released with a label. It features David Cook (vocals, guitar); Bobby Kerr (drums); Jerron Nichols (bass); Tom Basile (bass); and Jeff Shrout (guitar); with guest vocals on ‘Hold’ by Andy Skib (Midwest Kings (MWK)) and Mikey J (Mad Verb, New Science). The album was produced by Paul Johnson, Tom Basile, and Axium; recorded at “In The Can Mobile Studios” by Paul Johnson; and mixed and mastered by Tom Basile at Holy Toledo. Track listing Notes "Hold," was picked up by AMC Theatres Movie Tunes and was played before previews on over 20,000 screens nationwide. The band distributed a ''Blindsided Limited Edition'' CD at live shows in Warrensburg, MO and Kansas City, MO September 12 & 13, 2003. David Cook (singer)
David Roland Cook (born December 20, 1982) is an American rock singer-songwriter. Cook rose to fame after winning the seventh season of ''American Idol'' in 2008. Prior to ''Idol'', Cook formed a high school band that released three studio albums and four live albums before releasing his first solo independent album, ''Analog Heart''. After winning ''American Idol'', he released his debut single " The Time of My Life", which entered the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 charts at number three and at number two on the ''Billboard'' Canadian Hot 100, selling over 1.4 million copies and being certified platinum by the RIAA. His major-label self-titled debut album was released on November 18, 2008, and has also since been certified platinum by the RIAA.
