Matteo Lepore
Matteo Lepore (born 10 October 1980) is an Italian politician, member of the Democratic Party (PD) and he is serving as mayor of Bologna since 11 October 2021. Early life Lepore was born in Bologna in 1980 and grew up in the Savena district. He attended the classical lyceum Luigi Galvani and graduated in political science from the University of Bologna. In 2007, he obtained a master degree in international relations, after having carried out an internship in Brussels at the Liaison Office with the European Institutions of the Emilia-Romagna Region. In 2008 he obtained another master degrees in building and urban planning and in 2009 one in cooperation economics, both at the University of Bologna. From 2008 to 2011, Lepore was responsible for the territorial development, innovation and internationalization area of Legacoop Bologna. Expo 2010, officially the Expo 2010 Shanghai China, was held on both banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China, from 1 May to 31 October 2010. 2021 Bologna Municipal Election
The municipal elections in Bologna took place on 3 and 4 October 2021. The incumbent Mayor of Bologna was Virginio Merola of Democratic Party, who won the 2016 Bologna municipal election. The centre-left candidate Matteo Lepore won in a landslide with 62% of votes, becoming the most voted mayor since the introduction of direct elections in 1995. Electoral system The voting system is used for all mayoral elections in Italy, in the cities with a population higher than 15,000 inhabitants. Under this system, voters express a direct choice for the mayor or an indirect choice voting for the party of the candidate's coalition. San Lazzaro di Savena ( Bolognese: ) is an Italian ''comune'' (municipality) of some 32,000 inhabitants in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna. Municipal elections were held in Bologna on 15 and 16 May 2011. The centre-left candidate Virginio Merola was elected mayor at the first round with 50.47% of votes. The turnout was just 71%, a decrease compared to 2009 and 2004 elections. Background The election took place before the end of the legislature because the incumbent mayor Flavio Delbono, who was under investigation after the ''Cinziagate'' scandal. Legacoop (Lega Nazionale delle Cooperative e Mutue) is a cooperative federation located in Italy. Legacoop consists of several associations of cooperatives, providing coordination and advocating on the members cooperatives' behalf. History The Federazione Nazionale delle Cooperative was founded in 1886 in Milan by delegates representing cooperative enterprises. In 1893, the federation changed its name to Lega delle Cooperative.
