Matt Selman (born }) is an American writer and producer. Early life Selman is a native of Watertown, Massachusetts. He graduated from Beaver Country Day School in 1989 and the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. Career After considering a career in journalism, he decided to try to become a television writer. After two years of failed spec scripts he was eventually hired to write an episode of ''Seinfeld'' in 1996. ''The Simpsons'' In 1997, Selman joined the writing staff of ''The Simpsons'', where he has remained, rising to the position of executive producer. He has written or co-written 28 episodes of the show, including "Natural Born Kissers" which the show's creator Matt Groening listed as his eighth favorite episode in 2000., "Behind the Laughter", "Trilogy of Error", "Sky Police" and "The Food Wife". San Diego Comic-Con International is a comic book convention and nonprofit multi-genre entertainment event held annually in San Diego, California since 1970. Matthew Abram Groening ( ; born February 15, 1954) is an American cartoonist, writer, producer, and animator. He is the creator of the comic strip ''Life in Hell'' (1977–2012) and the television series ''The Simpsons'' (1989–present), ''Futurama'' (1999–2003, 2008–2013, 2023–onwards), and ''Disenchantment'' (2018–present). ''The Simpsons'' is the longest-running U.S. primetime-television series in history and the longest-running U.S. animated series and sitcom. Groening made his first professional cartoon sale of ''Life in Hell'' to the avant-garde magazine ''Wet'' in 1978. At its peak, the cartoon was carried in 250 weekly newspapers.
