Matt Santos
Matthew Vincente Santos is a fictional character on the American television show ''The West Wing'', played by Jimmy Smits. Santos' initial appearance in the series was as a Democratic U.S. Representative from Texas's 18th congressional district. He was later elected to succeed Josiah Bartlet as President in the series' seventh and final season. According to David Remnick's biography of Barack Obama, ''The Bridge'', and other news sources, ''West Wing'' writer and producer Eli Attie used Obama as a model for Santos. The Houston City Council is a city council for the city of Houston in the U.S. state of Texas. Currently, there are sixteen members, 11 elected from council districts and five at-large.
