Matt McDonough
Matt McDonough (born May 12, 1990) is a two-time NCAA wrestling champion who attended the University of Iowa. High school and personal life McDonough attended Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. His career high school record was 151-15. McDonough was a three-time high school wrestling state champion and four-time state place winner for Linn-Mar under head coach Doug Streicher. As a freshman, McDonough was a teammate of Jay Borschel, four time Iowa state champion, undefeated NCAA champion (2009–2010) and subject of the non-fiction wrestling book Four Days to Glory. McDonough's father Mike wrestled for Iowa in the 1970s. College career 2009–2010 McDonough made a surprise drop to 125 pounds as a freshman after competing his first year (when he was redshirting) at 141. Angel Escobedo (born January 12, 1987) is an American former folkstyle and freestyle wrestler, and is the head wrestling coach at Indiana University. Escobedo won an NCAA Wrestling championship in 2008 and placed fifth at the World Wrestling Championships in 2013. Early life Escobedo is from Griffith, Indiana. College career Escobedo competed for the wrestling team at Indiana University. While there, he won an NCAA Division I championship, and placed in the top five nationwide all four years he competed. Escobedo was the first wrestler from Indiana University to ever place in the top eight four times. Tony Ramos an American amateur wrestler retired from competing in the International circuit for the United States. Early life and education Of Mexican descent, Ramos was born February 12, 1991, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alfonzo and Debra Ramos. Ramos started wrestling when he was 3 years old so he could wrestle on the same team as his brothers, Frankie and Vince, and they could all be on the same team for one year. Dave Schultz (amateur Wrestler)
David Lesley Schultz (June 6, 1959 – January 26, 1996) was an American Olympic and World champion freestyle wrestler, and a seven-time World and Olympic medalist. He coached individuals and teams at the college level and also privately. Dave and his brother, wrestler Mark Schultz, both won gold at the same Olympics (1984). The Schultzes were one of three sets of brothers (the others are Buvaisar and Adam Saitiev, and Anatoli and Sergei Beloglazov) to win both World and Olympic championships. The Schultz brothers won more NCAA, U.S. Open, World, and Olympic titles than any other American brother combination in history. Schultz was employed as a coach by John du Pont, a multimillionaire philanthropist who sponsored the private Foxcatcher wrestling team at an amateur sports center known as Foxcatcher Farm that he set up on his estate in Pennsylvania.
