Matt Garside
Matt Garside is an English rugby league footballer who plays as a forward and for Dewsbury Rams in the Betfred Championship. He previously played for the Gateshead Thunder in Championship 1, and the York City Knights, Sheffield Eagles and the London Broncos in the Championship. Garside also played for the Bradford Bulls in League 1. Playing career Gateshead Thunder In 2010, Garside played for Gateshead Thunder making 12 appearances and scoring four tries. York City Knights During 2011 and 2012, Matt Garside played for York City making 46 appearances and scoring 16 tries. Sheffield Eagles on 6 September 2012, Sheffield announced the signing of Garside from the 2013 Championship season onwards. Garside played a large part of Sheffield's Grand Final winning season scoring 9 tries in 27 games with impressive performances. Newcastle Thunder
The Newcastle Thunder are a professional rugby league club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. They play in the Betfred Championship competition, the second tier of rugby league in the United Kingdom. They play their home matches at Kingston Park, also home to rugby union side Newcastle Falcons. The club was known as Gateshead Thunder until 2015. History The club was formerly known as Gateshead Thunder, and played their home games at Gateshead International Stadium in Gateshead. The club was formed by supporters of the original Gateshead Thunder after that organisation made the decision to relocate to Hull at the end of the 1999 season. Halifax Panthers
The Halifax Panthers are a professional rugby league club in Halifax, West Yorkshire, which formed in 1873. Halifax were one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. They have been Rugby League Champions four times and have won the Challenge Cup five times. They were known as the Halifax Blue Sox between 1996 and 2002. They have rivalries with neighbours Bradford and Huddersfield and with fellow Championship side Featherstone Rovers. Super League
The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing Rugby Football League Championship First Division, First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. Each team plays 27 games between February and September: 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an additional 4 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions.
