Mathieu Olivier
Mathieu Olivier (born February 11, 1997) is an American-born Canadian professional ice hockey right winger for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Olivier is the first Mississippi-born player in NHL history, as well as the first player born in the Gulf Coast region to play for the Predators. Early life Olivier was born on February 11, 1997, in Biloxi, Mississippi while his father Simon was playing in the ECHL. He lived in Mississippi for three months before moving to various cities and countries including Canada, Germany, Oklahoma City, and Houston while his father played hockey. He attended kindergarten in Germany and picked up the language before moving back to his family's native Quebec. Biloxi, Mississippi
Biloxi ( ; ) is a city in and one of two county seats of Harrison County, Mississippi, United States (the other being the adjacent city of Gulfport). The 2010 United States Census recorded the population as 44,054 and in 2019 the estimated population was 46,212. The area's first European settlers were French colonists. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. The Winnipeg Jets are a professional ice hockey team based in Winnipeg. 2019–20 AHL Season
The 2019–20 AHL season was the 84th season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began October 4, 2019, and was officially cancelled on May 11, 2020. The 2020 Calder Cup playoffs, which was also cancelled, would have followed the conclusion of the regular season. The league suspended play on March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in North America, and was not able to resume play. The Milwaukee Admirals claimed the league's regular-season trophy, the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy, their second regular-season championship. The Milwaukee Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Panther Arena. They are affiliated with the NHL's Nashville Predators. The Sherbrooke Phoenix is a major junior ice hockey team based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, that plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team plays its home games at the Palais des Sports Léopold-Drolet. History The franchise was granted as a replacement for the Lewiston Maineiacs, which folded at the end of the 2010–11 QMJHL season. The 2017–18 QMJHL season was the 49th season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season began on September 21, 2017, and ended on March 18, 2018. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League based in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada. The team plays its home games at the Aréna Glencore. Giovanni Fiore
Giovanni Fiore (born August 13, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He is currently playing under contract with Admiral Vladivostok of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career Fiore played minor ice hockey with the Laval Patriotes, and participated in the 2009 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with them. He later played midget hockey in the QMAAA with the Laval-Montréal Rousseau Royal before embarking on major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Drummondville Voltigeurs, Shawinigan Cataractes and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
