Mark Andrew Mathias (born August 2, 1994) is an American professional baseball second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers. Career Amateur career Mathias attended Irvington High School in Fremont, California. Undrafted out of high school, Mathias attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he played college baseball for the Cal Poly Mustangs. Mathias played for the 2014 USA Collegiate National Team. He underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery in December 2014. Tania Wyn Mathias (born 21 June 1964) is a British ophthalmologist and Conservative Party politician. She served as the Member of Parliament for Twickenham from May 2015 to June 2017. Early life and career Mathias was born in Kensington, London on 21 June 1964 and raised in Barnes. She was educated at St Paul's Girls' School, an all-girls independent school in Hammersmith, London. She studied at St Catherine's College, Oxford and Christ Church, Oxford, graduating with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB BCh) degrees in 1988. Her grandfather, Fred Mathias, played rugby and cricket for Glamorgan and in 1918 was awarded the Military Cross after his exploits flying over enemy lines in Belgium and France. Ronald Mathias
Ronald Cavill Mathias (1912–1968) was a Welsh trade union leader. Personal life Mathias was born on 21 September 1912 at Pontarddulais, Swansea, Wales. He attended Gowerton Grammar School. In 1938 he married Annie Ceridwen Hall and they had one daughter. He died on 15 April 1968 on a Mediterranean cruise and was buried at sea. Career Mathias began his career as a clerk in 1924 for the Richard Thomas Co south Wales iron and steel manufacturers. In 1938, he received the MBE In 1945, Mathias became organiser for the Transport and General Workers' Union in Merthyr and the district. James Goronwy Mathias
James Goronwy Mathias (1842–1895), also known under the pen name Goronwy Ddu, was a Baptist minister and writer. Religious life Mathias was born in Manchester but moved to Penrhyn-Coch when he was young. In 1873, he moved to Aberdare and joined Ynys-lwyd chapel, before moving to Rhymney Valley in 1874 to become pastor of Bethania chapel, Troedrhiw'r-fuwch. In 1875, he took pastoral charge of Ramah and Erwood, Brecknock and later (in 1881) Llansantffraid and Glyndyfrdwy. Clarence Edward Mathias
Clarence E. Mathias (December 12, 1876 – December 9, 1935) was an American Sergeant Major serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Boxer Rebellion who received the Medal of Honor for bravery. Biography Mathias was born December 12, 1876, in Royalton, Pennsylvania, and after entering the Marine Corps he was sent as a private to China to fight in the Boxer Rebellion.
