Mathias Herrmann
Mathias Herrmann (born 16 July 1962 in Friedberg, West Germany) is a German television actor. He studied acting from 1983–86 at the rewarded Otto-Falckenberg-School in Munich. Parallel to his studies he already played at the Munich Kammerspiele. His film debut he had given in 1987 in Ralf Huettner's successful movie ''The Girl with the Lighters''. After this, he had many engagements at theatres in Bremen, Bonn, Mannheim and Basel, where he played many leads in which he excited the audience, a.o. ''Prinz von Homburg'', ''Clavigo'', '' Der Stellvertreter'' and ''Ghetto''. He got international attention with the lead role of captured German soldier Beck in the Dutch WW2 series ''De Partizanen (The Partisans)'', which received many awards and was nominated for an emmy. Friedberg (; official name: ''Friedberg (Hessen)'') is a town and the capital of the Wetteraukreis district, in Hesse, Germany. It is located 26 km (16 miles) north of Frankfurt am Main. Christoph Schrewe (born August 19, 1964) is a German film director. Schrewe began his career directing television films in Germany. In 2004 he directed his first international feature film, ''Post Impact'', followed by the well-received ''The Conclave'' in 2006. In 2008, he directed a mini-series adaptation of Jack London's novel ''The Sea Wolf'', a ProSieben production filmed on location on Grand Bahama Island. ''John Rabe'' (released in the United Kingdom as ''City of War: The Story of John Rabe'') is a 2009 biographical film directed by Florian Gallenberger, based upon John Rabe's published wartime diaries. An international co-production between Germany, China and France, the film focuses upon the experiences of Rabe (Ulrich Tukur), a German businessman who used his Nazi Party membership to create a protective International Safety Zone in Nanking, China, helping to save over 200,000 Chinese from the Nanking Massacre in late 1937 and early 1938. Dennis Gansel (born 4 October 1973) is a German film director, writer and actor . Life and career Gansel was born in 1973 in Hannover, West Germany, where he graduated from high school in 1993. Gansel worked in the festivals for film and television and chose to dedicate his compulsory service to helping disabled people. During this time, he prepared himself for film school. ''Das Phantom'' (''The Phantom'') is a 2000 German thriller TV movie directed by Dennis Gansel. It is based on the book ''Das RAF-Phantom'' and stars Jürgen Vogel. Plot Policeman Leon Kramer (Vogel) and his partner Pit (Sözer) are observing two people in a car. When Leon goes to fetch some coffee, the two people in the car and Pit are killed. Suspicion is placed on Leon and, when his boss is also killed shortly thereafter, he becomes a fugitive. He learns that one of the two people he observed is an ex-Red Army Faction terrorist and the other is his former lawyer. A friend of the lawyer (Berricke) contacts Leon and gives him information about the RAF. The father of the dead terrorist also provides information.
