2014 UCI Road World Championships
The 2014 UCI Road World Championships took place in Ponferrada, Spain, from 21 to 28 September 2014. The cycling championships consisted of 12 events for elite, under-23 and junior cyclists. It was the 81st UCI Road World Championships and the seventh time that Spain had hosted the championships; they were previously held in Lasarte in 1965, Montjuïc in 1973, Barcelona in 1984, Benidorm in 1992, San Sebastián in 1997 and Madrid in 2005. Bidding process The UCI announced on 4 April 2011 that the city of Ponferrada had the best candidature file to host the Championships. The candidature file of Ponferrada had the best score on the important sporting and economic elements. Ponferrada had unsuccessfully bid for the 2013 World Championships, which were awarded to Tuscany. Bałtyk–Karkonosze Tour
The Bałtyk–Karkonosze Tour is a cycling race in West Poland that runs between the Baltic Sea and the Karkonosze. The first edition was held in 1993 as an amateur race as the Karkonosze Tour with stages in the Wałbrzych Voivodeship and Jelenia Góra Voivodeship. In 1996, the race became professional. In 1997, it adopted the current North–South route. An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). 2013 Tour Of Hainan
The 2013 Tour of Hainan was the eighth edition of the Tour of Hainan cycling stage race. It was rated as a 2.HC event on the UCI Asia Tour, and was held between 20 and 28 October 2013, in Hainan. It was won by Moreno Hofland, in his first professional victory ever. Hofland won 3 stages, his teammate Theo Bos won the other six; it was the first time that a cycling team won all stages and the general classification in a UCI HC event.
