Mateja Svet
Mateja Svet (); born 16 August 1968) is a former Slovenian alpine skier, who competed for Yugoslavia from 1984 to 1990. Biography Svet was born in Ljubljana, Socialist Republic of Slovenia, Yugoslavia. Making her first appearance in the 1983/1984 season, she won the first Yugoslav female skiing victory in February 1986. Svet won the World Cup giant slalom title in the 1987/1988 season, won silver medal in giant slalom in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, won three medals in 1987 World Championship in Crans-Montana (bronze in slalom and super G, silver in giant slalom) and two medals in 1989 World Championship in Vail – gold in slalom, later when the bronze Christelle Guignard Christelle Guignard (born September 27, 1962 in Les Deux Alpes) is a retired French alpine skier. Super Giant Slalom Skiing
Super giant slalom, or super-G, is a racing discipline of alpine skiing. Along with the faster Downhill (ski competition), downhill, it is regarded as a "speed" event, in contrast to the technical events giant slalom and slalom skiing, slalom. It debuted as an official FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup event during the 1983 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1983 season and was added to the official schedule of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, World Championships in FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1987, 1987 and the Alpine skiing at the Winter Olympics, Winter Olympics in Alpine skiing at the 1988 Winter Olympics, 1988. Vail
Vail is a home rule municipality in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The population of the town was 4,835 in 2020. Home to Vail Ski Resort, the largest ski mountain in Colorado, the town is known for its hotels, dining, and for the numerous events the city hosts annually, such as the Vail Film Festival, Vail Resorts Snow Days, and Bravo! Vail. History Vail was incorporated in 1966, four years after the opening of Vail Ski Resort. The ski area was founded by Pete Seibert and local rancher Earl Eaton in 1962, at the base of Vail Pass. The pass was named after Charles Vail, the highway engineer who routed U.S. Highway 6 through the Eagle Valley in 1940, which eventually became Interstate 70. Saint-Gervais-les-Bains
Saint-Gervais-les-Bains () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, southeastern France. The village is best known for tourism and has been a popular holiday destination since the early 1900s. It has of pistes, the third largest domain exclusively in France, and is one of the least busy ski areas of its size. In 1892, two hundred people were killed when a water pocket in a glacier above the town suddenly burst open and caused flooding. Sestriere (/se'strjɛre/) ( oc, Sestrieras, pms, Ël Sestrier, french: Sestrières) is a ski resort in Piedmont, Italy, a ''comune'' (municipality) of the Metropolitan City of Turin. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303. The village of Lake Placid is near the center of the town of North Elba, southwest of Plattsburgh.
