Matchmaker (game Show)
''Matchmaker'' was a dating show that aired in syndication from September 14, 1987 to September 1988. It was hosted by Dave Hull. Jimmie Walker also hosted for one week of shows. The executive producer and occasional announcer was Bill Armstrong, who replaced original announcer Lou Hunt. Syndication was arranged by Four Star International, in association with Kleinman, Pollard, Hull Productions, and Orbis Communications. It was based on a long-running Los Angeles radio show hosted by Dave "The Hullaballoer" Hull where listeners would call in to the radio station and ask Dave to find them dates. It was fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek, and fueled by Dave's madcap wit and humor. The Matchmaker TV show was an adaptation of the radio program. A reboot of the show with an updated format is in the works for 2021 or 2022 by original co-creator, Gary Kleinman, with new Matchmaker/Host, Jillian Barberie. Dave Hull
Dave Hull (January 20, 1934 – October 15, 2020), known as "The Hullabalooer", was an American radio personality voted one of the top ten Los Angeles radio personalities of all time. Career Hull began his radio career in Armed Forces Radio in Casablanca, Morocco and in commercial radio in 1955 at KGFL in Roswell, New Mexico. He got his nickname while working at WONE in Dayton, Ohio. Los Angeles radio historian Don Barrett quotes Hull as saying: "A woman wrote me from a hotel outside Dayton to say she couldn't stand all that hullabaloo. Well, ''Webster's'' defined it as a 'tumultuous outroar,' so I used it." He reached Los Angeles' KRLA in the summer of 1963 as weekend relief and went full-time there in the 9pm-midnight slot by the fall of 1963. Jimmie Walker
James Carter Walker Jr. (born June 25, 1947) is an American actor and comedian. Walker portrayed James Evans Jr. ("J.J."), the older son of Florida and James Evans Sr., on the CBS television series ''Good Times'', which ran from 1974 to 1979, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1975 and 1976 for his role. While on the show, Walker's character used the catchphrase "Dyn-O-Mite!" which he also used in his mid–1970s TV commercial for a Panasonic line of cassette and 8-track tape players and a 2021 and 2022 Medicare commercial. Four Star International
Four Star Television, also called Four Star International, was an American television production company. Founded in 1952 as Four Star Productions by prominent Hollywood actors Dick Powell, David Niven, Charles Boyer, and Joel McCrea, it was inspired by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz founding Desilu Productions a year earlier. McCrea left soon after its founding to continue in films, television and radio, and was replaced by Ida Lupino as the fourth star—although Lupino did not own stock in the company. Sitcoms
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode.
