Master Minds (1949 Film)
''Master Minds'' is a 1949 comedy film by Monogram Pictures. It is the sixteenth film in The Bowery Boys series. Plot Sach has eaten too much candy, which gives him a toothache that allows him to predict the future. Slip and Gabe come up with an idea to make money from this and put him in a sideshow carnival. A mad scientist sees Sach's photo in the newspaper and reads about his ability. He visits the carnival where after seeing Sach in action he decides to kidnap him so he can transfer his brain into the brain of Atlas, a Frankenstein type humanoid creature. The boys attempt to rescue Sach, but are captured themselves. Meanwhile Sach and Atlas have had their brains swapped temporarily and Louie has arrived in the hopes of rescuing all of them. He dons a knight's armor and temporarily outwits the scientists, but is eventually captured as well. However, the police, who Louie tried to alert earlier, arrive and arrest the scientists. Jean Yarbrough
Jean Yarbrough (August 22, 1901 – August 2, 1975) was an American film director. Biography Jean Yarbrough was born in Marianna, Arkansas on August 22, 1901. He attended the University of the South located in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 1922, Yarbrough entered the film business working in silent pictures, first as a "prop man" and later rising through the ranks to become an assistant director. By 1936, he was a bona fide director, first doing comedy and musical shorts for RKO which was founded by Joseph P. Kennedy among others. His directorial debut for a feature-length film was ''Rebellious Daughters'' which was made by the low-budget studio, Progressive Pictures in 1938. Alan Napier
Alan William Napier-Clavering (7 January 1903 – 8 August 1988), better known as Alan Napier, was an English actor. After a decade in West End theatre, he had a long film career in Britain and later, in Hollywood. Napier is best remembered for portraying Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler in the 1960s live-action ''Batman'' television series. Early life and career Napier was a first cousin-once removed of Neville Chamberlain, Britain's prime minister from 1937 to 1940. He was educated at Packwood Haugh School and, after leaving Clifton College, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1925. He was engaged by the Oxford Players, where he worked with the likes of John Gielgud and Robert Morley. ''Blonde Dynamite'' is a 1950 American comedy film directed by William Beaudine and starring The Bowery Boys. The film was released on February 12, 1950 by Monogram Pictures and is the seventeenth film in the series. Plot After Slip and Sach are thrown out on the street after unsuccessfully trying to get jobs as urbane male escorts, the enraged Slip vows to start his own escort agency. Slip suggests that the hard working Louie take a vacation and hand over the responsibilities of the sweet shop to the boys. Louie reluctantly agrees and takes his wife to Coney Island. ''Angels in Disguise'' is a 1949 comedy film directed by Jean Yarbrough and starring The Bowery Boys. Plot Sach Jones and Slip Mahoney are copy boys for the New York Daily Chronicle newspaper who hear that two local police officers, including their friend Gabe, have been shot in the line of duty while trying to stop a robbery. Gabe survives, but his partner does not, so they decide to help find the person responsible--a gangster and member of the Loop Gang from Chicago. The boys then decide to go undercover to try to infiltrate the mob and expose them. They get a green light from their editor, Joe Cobb, to go and investigate the story further. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Poni Adams
Betty Jane Bierce, better known by her stage name Jane "Poni" Adams (August 7, 1918 – May 21, 2014), was an American actress in radio, film, and television in the 1940s and 1950s. Early years The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Bierce, Adams was born in San Antonio, Texas, but her family moved to California when she was two.
