MasterCard Classic (Champions Tour)
The MasterCard Classic was a golf tournament on the Champions Tour from 2000 to 2004. It was played in late February/early March in Mexico, first in Puebla for two years and then in the Mexico City area. It was the first Champions Tour event in Mexico. The purse for the 2004 tournament was US$2,000,000, with $300,000 going to the winner. The tournament was founded in 2000 as the Audi Senior Classic. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is an American organization for female golfers. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world. Hubert Green
Hubert Myatt Green (December 28, 1946 – June 19, 2018) was an American professional golfer who won 29 professional golf tournaments, including two major championships: the 1977 U.S. Open and the 1985 PGA Championship. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007. Early life Green was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended and played golf for Shades Valley High School in Birmingham and then Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Florida. While at FSU, he won the Southern Amateur in 1966 on his home course at the Country Club of Birmingham. In 1967, he became the Alabama Amateur golf champion, a title he successfully defended in 1968. He also won the Cape Coral Inter-Collegiate Tournament by eight strokes and the Miami Invitational by five strokes, among others. Mike McCullough (golfer)
Michael McCullough (born March 21, 1945) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour, and currently plays on the Champions Tour. McCullough was born in Coshocton, Ohio. He was introduced to golf by his grandfather. He turned pro in 1970 and joined the PGA Tour in 1972. In 401 starts on the PGA Tour and 33 starts on the Nationwide Tour, McCullough never tasted victory. He did finish 2nd at the 1977 Tournament Players Championship. After reaching the age of 50 in March 1995, he joined the Senior PGA Tour (now called the Champions Tour). His first win on the Champions Tour – at the Mexico Senior Classic in 2001 – came just before his 56th birthday. He won the Emerald Coast Classic about a month later, and the Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions Championship in 2005. Bruce Lietzke
Bruce Alan Lietzke (July 18, 1951 – July 28, 2018) was an American professional golfer who won 13 tournaments on the PGA Tour between 1977 and 1994, including two victories in the Canadian Open. His best finish in a major championship was at the 1991 PGA Championship where he finished second, three strokes behind John Daly. He had seven victories on the Champions Tour, including one senior major title, the 2003 U.S. Senior Open. He played in the 1981 Ryder Cup. Early life Lietzke was born in Kansas City, Kansas. David Eger
David Benjamin Eger (born March 17, 1952) is an American professional golfer on the Champions Tour. Early life Eger was born in Fort Meade, Maryland. Amateur career He attended the University of North Carolina, and later East Tennessee State University. Professional career He turned professional in 1978, but won only $31,014 in 58 PGA Tour events, with only one top-10 finish. Re-instated amateur status In 1982, he went to work as a golf administrator and regained his amateur status. He served as Director of Tournament Administration for the PGA Tour from 1982–92; Senior Director of Rules and Competition for the USGA from 1992–95; and as Vice-President of Competition for the PGA Tour from 1995-96.
