Massimiliano Frezzato
Massimiliano Frezzato (born March 12, 1967) is an Italian comic book author. Born in Turin, he studied art in that city and won the first Prize in the 1989 comics contest in Prato. In 1990 he started the series ''Margot'', written by Jerome Charyn. His most famous work is '' I custodi del Maser'' ('' Keepers of the Maser''), which appeared in 1996 and has been translated in numerous countries, including France, Belgium, Portugal, United States, Germany, Poland and Denmark. Frezzato's influences include Moebius, Enki Bilal, Tanino Liberatore, Hayao Miyazaki and Katsuhiro Ōtomo. Italian comics, also known as ''fumetto'' , plural form ''fumetti'' , are comics that originate in Italy. The most popular Italian comics have been translated into many languages. The term ''fumetto'' (literally ''little puff of smoke'') refers to the distinctive word balloons that contain the dialogue in comics (also called ''nuvoletta'', "little cloud", in Italian). In English, the term ''fumetti'' can refer to photo comics, regardless of origin or language. Enki Bilal
Enki Bilal (born Enes Bilal; born 7 October 1951) is a French comic book creator, comics artist and film director. Biography Early life Bilal was born in Belgrade, PR Serbia, Yugoslavia, to a Czech mother, Ana, who came to Belgrade as child from Karlovy Vary, and a Bosnian Muslim father, Muhamed Hamo Bilal, from Ljubuški, who had been Josip Broz Tito's tailor. When he was five years old, his father managed to take a trip and stay in Paris as a political émigré. Enki and the rest of the family, his mother Ana and sister Enisa, stayed in Yugoslavia, and four years later they followed. Enki Bilal has no sense of belonging to any ethnic group and religion, nor is he obsessed with soil and roots. Nikita Mandryka (20 October 1940 – 13 June 2021) was a French cartoonist. He started drawing in the '' Vaillant'' magazine, before moving to ''Pilote'' in 1967, and then created ''L'Écho des savanes'' along with Claire Bretécher and Marcel Gotlib in 1972. Katsuhiro Ōtomo
is a Japanese manga artist, screenwriter, animator and film director. He is best known as the creator of '' Akira'', in terms of both the original 1982 manga series and the 1988 animated film adaptation. He was decorated a ''Chevalier'' of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2005, promoted to ''Officier'' of the order in 2014, became the fourth manga artist ever inducted into the American Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2012, and was awarded the Purple Medal of Honor from the Japanese government in 2013.
