Bristol and Norfolk is a district of the Massachusetts Senate. It covers 17.0% of Bristol County and 9.5% of Norfolk County population in 2010. Democrat Paul Feeney of Foxborough has represented the district since 2017. Jo Ann Sprague
Jo Ann Sprague (born November 3, 1931) is a former Massachusetts State Representative (1993–1998) and State Senator (1999–2004) from Walpole. In the Massachusetts Senate she represented the Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth district, but moved in 2003 to the Bristol and Norfolk district. Previously she was a State Representative from the 9th Norfolk district. She is a member of the Republican Party. Biography Sprague was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1980 with a B.A. in classical studies. She served as a selectman in Walpole, Massachusetts from 1977 to 1980, a member of the Walpole Capital Budget committee from 1980 to 1992, a member of the Walpole Republican Town Committee. She was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives and served from 1993 to 1998, then served in the Massachusetts Senate from 1999 to 2004. John Francis Parker
John Francis Parker (May 29, 1907-December 1992) was an American politician who was the last of a long line of part-time mayors of Taunton, Massachusetts. By his efforts the City Council decided to make the position full-time. Parker was elected to the State Senate in 1953, and served for many years as the Minority Leader of the Massachusetts Senate, the post he held when he retired from public life in 1989. He was also a member of the Taunton School Committee. Parker desired to succeed Congressman Joseph William Martin Jr. (R-MA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, however Parker refused to oppose the elderly former Speaker in the Republican primary of 1968. Martin was defeated in the primary by Governor’s Councilor Margaret Heckler (R-MA) effectively ending Parker's efforts of attaining higher office.
