Mask
A mask is an object normally worn on the face, typically for protection, disguise, performance, or entertainment and often they have been employed for rituals and rights. Masks have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes, as well as in the performing arts and for entertainment. They are usually worn on the face, although they may also be positioned for effect elsewhere on the wearer's body. More generally in art history, especially sculpture, "mask" is the term for a face without a body that is not modelled in the round (which would make it a "head"), but for example appears in low relief. José Fors
José Fors Fierro (born 30 July 1958) is a Cuban singer and artist best known as the leading member of the bands Cuca and Forseps. Biography Fors was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1958. At the age of three he and his family moved to Miami, Florida where he studied painting. In 1967 his family moved to Mexico City, where he lived for the remainder of his childhood. Later on he moved again to Guadalajara where he has lived most of his life. In 1976 he studied anatomical drawing with Robert Martinez and started working with musical groups such as Mask and Lepra. In 1985 he developed an ambitious project with Carlos Esegé (''née'' Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez) called Duda Mata. In 1990, along with Ignacio González (drums), Galileo Ochoa (guitar) and (bass), he founded Cuca, a group that interprets irreverent songs in a hard rock style. A few months after the release of the band's 14th studio album, ''Girl at the End of the World'' in 2016, work began on a new album. Writing and three weeks of jam sessions followed, with engineer Beni Giles appearing partway through the sessions. Recording took place at Livingston and Iguana studios, both of which are in London, and lasted for four weeks, with Giles and Charlie Andrew handling co-production. "Mask" is the second single by American YouTuber Dream. It was released on May 21, 2021, through Dream Music. "Mask" is more rock-influenced than Dream's previous song, "Roadtrip", and lyrically details his past and present struggles with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). "Mask" performed well commercially, receiving one million streams in its first week and becoming Dream's first top-40 single on the UK Singles Chart, where it reached number 38. The song's accompanying animated music video, released in June 2021, was negatively received by viewers for its quality and messages, and became an internet meme. ''Mask'' (sometimes ''The Mask'') is an album by the Greek electronic music composer Vangelis released in March 1985. It was the last he produced for the Polydor label. It is dramatic work in six movements, with somewhat dark mood and classical style which branches into ethnic styles. The album reached #69 position in the UK album charts. Composition It is arranged like a symphony or suite, divided into movements with different moods. The 4th movement features complex percussion, with reminiscence to West African tribal drumming. Vangelis plays all instruments, mainly synthesizers, himself. There is choral input on all tracks, and a solo male vocal on the fourth track, but all are uncredited. The choir, as in Vangelis' other choral work, sings seemingly random syllables chosen for their timbre. ''Mask'' is the second studio album by English gothic rock band Bauhaus. It was released on 16 October 1981 by record label Beggars Banquet. Content Bauhaus expanded their style a bit on ''Mask'', particularly by incorporating keyboards and acoustic guitar on songs such as "The Passion of Lovers", and funk rhythms and saxophone on tracks like "Kick in the Eye", "Dancing" and "In Fear of Fear". The album cover is a drawing by guitarist Daniel Ash. The original artwork for the album was a gatefold sleeve with blue text on the inside and a stark black-and-white image of the band.
