Masjid Darul Makmur
The Darul Makmur Mosque ( ms, 1=Masjid Darul Makmur) is a mosque located at Yishun Avenue 2 in Yishun, Singapore. It was constructed in the early 1980s. History The plan to build a mosque in the Yishun housing estate was developed in the 1980s. At the time, the total number of Muslim residents of Yishun stood at 102 individuals. Local Muslim residents from Yishun and the surrounding villages met to form a Mosque Building Committee. With support from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), funds began to be raised for the construction of the mosque. Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura
The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (IRCS), is a statutory board of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth of the Government of Singapore. As a majlis, its role is to look after the administration and interests of Singapore's Muslim community. The Majlis is headed by a Council, in which members are appointed by the President of Singapore. Since 2009, the council is headquartered in the Singapore Islamic Hub, along Braddell Road. Yishun, formerly known as Nee Soon, is a residential town located in the northeastern corner of the North Region of Singapore, bordering Simpang and Sembawang to the north, Mandai to the west, the Central Water Catchment to its southwest, Ang Mo Kio to its south, as well as Seletar and Sengkang to its east and southeast respectively. Yishun MRT Station
Yishun MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North South line (NSL) in Yishun, Singapore. The station is located at the junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Avenue 5, and is currently one of the two MRT stations that serve Yishun New Town; the other being Khatib station. Yishun station was the terminus of the NSL upon its completion on 20 December 1988, until the Woodlands Extension of the NSL was completed and opened on 10 February 1996. Practitioners of Islam make up about 15.6% of Singapore's residents, according to the 2020 census. Islam is the third largest religion in the country, after Buddhism and Christianity. Mosques In Singapore
There are 72 mosques in Singapore. Almost all the mosques in Singapore are administered by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura, with the exception of Masjid Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim which is administered by the Malaysian state of Johor. Twenty-three mosques were built using the Masjid Building and Mendaki Fund (MBMF), the most recent being Masjid Al-Mawaddah which officially opened in May 2009.
