Masat, Bayburt
Masat (“مصاد” (Maṣād), Masad: 1928; Masat, 1933; Yıldırım, 1968; Masat, 1990s) is a village in the Bayburt District of the Bayburt Province in Turkey. As of 2021, its population was recorded as 550. Name The name of the village during the Ottoman Era was generally known as Masad, although it had varied spellings, such as “مصاد” (Maṣād), “ماساد” (Māsād), “مساد” (Masād), “مصعاد” (Maṣˁād) and “ماساط” (Māsāṭ). After 1959, the name of the village became Yıldırım, but the name did not last long and was not frequently used. The former name, Masat, has since replaced Yıldırım in 1990s. Geography The village is 32 kilometers from the province center. The village of Masat is generally considered to have two major settlements, those being Upper Masat and Lower Masat. Maşat Höyük
Maşat Höyük is a Bronze Age Hittite archaeological site 100 km nearly east of Boğazkale/ Hattusa, about 20 km south of Zile, Tokat Province, north-central Turkey, not far from the Çekerek River. The site is under agricultural use and is plowed. It was first excavated in the 1970s. During the Hittite period, it is believed to have been named Tappika (Tabigga, Tabikka). History The site dates back to at least the Early Bronze Age. Most of the EBA remains on the upper city were destroyed in the construction of the Hittite palace. Some remain in the lower town. The enigmatic marauding Kaskas burned this site during Tudhaliya II's reign. The Hittites rebuilt it under the next king Suppiluliuma I. Cuneiform tablets from the site form a new archive of Hittite texts. The letters found at Masat Höyük were edited by Sedat Alp in a two-volume edition in Turkish and German in 1991. Masat, Diamond Harbour
Masat is a census town and a gram panchayat within the jurisdiction of the Diamond Harbour police station in the Diamond Harbour I CD block in the Diamond Harbour subdivision of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Area overview Diamond Harbour subdivision is a rural subdivision with patches of urbanization. Only 14.61% of the population lives in the urban areas and an overwhelming 85.39% lives in the rural areas. In the western portion of the subdivision (shown in the map alongside) there are 11 census towns. The entire district is situated in the Ganges Delta and the western part, located on the east bank of the Hooghly River, is covered by the Kulpi Diamond Harbour Plain, which is 5–6 metres above sea level.
