Masanada Hoovu
''Masanada Hoovu'' () is a 1985 Indian Kannada language film directed by Puttanna Kanagal, based on T. R. Subba Rao's novel of the same name. It stars Jayanthi, Ambareesh, Hema Choudhary and Aparna. It was Puttanna Kanagal's last as a director. His friend and long time associate, director K. S. L. Swamy, completed the film. ''Masanada Hoovu'' won multiple awards at the 1985-86 Karnataka State Film Awards including Best Actress (Jayanthi) and Best Supporting Actor. Padma Vasanthi had originally been signed to play one of the roles and even learnt roller skating for the same. After his death, the same role was enacted by Vijayalakshmi Singh and a bicycle replaced the roller skates. Chandrika who would become a lead actress in the 90s has played a small role in the movie under her real name ''Sribharathi''. Shubraveshti Ramaswamiah Seetharama Sharma (1 December 1933 – 5 June 1985), known popularly as S. R. Puttanna Kanagal, was an Indian filmmaker known for his work in Kannada cinema. He is often considered one of Kannada cinema's most influential filmmakers. Background and personal life Puttanna Kanagal was born to Ramaswamaiah and Subbamma in Kanagal, Mysore, Kanagal, a village in the erstwhile Kingdom of Mysore into a poor family. As he hailed from a poor brahmin family, he had to endure hardships and struggled to get a decent job. He worked as a teacher, salesman and even as a cleaner. C. H. Loknath (14 August 1927 – 31 December 2018) was an Indian actor with more than 1000 Kannada plays and 650 films to his credit. Loknath is affectionately known as "Uncle Loknath" or "Uppinakayi" in the industry. His last performance was in a Star Suvarna Channel's TV series titled ''Priyadarshini''. Honnasandra Narasimhaiah Chandrashekar (born 28 August 1953), known popularly as Mukhyamantri Chandru, is an Indian actor and politician.
